*Nourishing the Mind and Body with Nature*
Creating supportive spaces for women to connect and take time out for themselves is an important part of the wellness work we do at Women's Collective Ireland-Donegal. This week, we held one of our Women's Wellness Days at OURganic Gardens in Gortahork. It was a day of inspiration, understanding, and connection, bringing women together to engage with nature and learn how it can support health and wellbeing.
These wellness days are special because they provide a space that helps reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, fostering meaningful connections while encouraging reflection and personal growth. Participants described the day as a positive and restorative experience that supported both their emotional and mental wellbeing. Many highlighted the therapeutic benefits of nature, saying they felt grounded, relaxed, rejuvenated, and better able to let go of stress. Some remarked that they were leaving feeling lighter, more energised, and with a greater sense of calm.
The opportunity to connect with other women was highlighted as an important element of the day, creating a strong sense of community. There was a richness in being among other women, recognising both shared experiences and individual differences. Many participants spoke about the importance of having a safe space where they felt heard, listened to, and accepted.
We were delighted to welcome this wonderful group of women and thank them for being open and supportive of one another.
Thank you to Joanne of OURganic Gardens, who continues to support Women's Collective Ireland-Donegal's work with women. The energy and passion you bring are both inspirational and empowering. A special thanks also to Grace, who volunteered her time to lead the afternoon mindfulness and reflection session. It provided a valuable opportunity for women to reflect on the challenges they have overcome and the achievements they have made in their lives.
We ended the day with a closing circle and a paddle at Magheraroarty Beach, where we shared hot drinks and an appreciation for Donegal's stunning coastal beauty.
We have another Women's Wellness and Nature Day coming up on Saturday, 20th June, from 10.30am-4.30pm at the Amach Anseo community garden in The Potting Shed in Fort Dunree. Throughout the day, participants will mindfully explore the surrounding nature with ecotherapy facilitator Michaela McDaid Ecotherapy.
