Drumbar Utd 2-2 Gweedore Utd

Drumbar welcomed a strong Gweedore Utd outfit to Brookfield on a beautiful evening for football.

From the outset both teams played some excellent football with really impressive passages of play.

This was a very exciting, competitive game played in a really spirited manner with both sets of players really driving forward at every opportunity.

Some outstanding individual performances by both sets of players.

Well done to all involved and thank you to Gweedore Utd for a wonderful game of football.

A special word of thanks to all the parents and friends who came out to cheer on.

We had a fantastic day on Friday at Donegal Golf Club as we hosted the Drumbar United FC 2026 Golf Classic ⛳️

Congratulations to our overall winners - Eoghan Gallagher, Odhran Plunkett, Presley Mc Brearty & Matthew Gallagher.
A selection of our other prize winners are pictured below.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser for our pitch development project, whether by taking part, sponsoring teams or tee boxes, donating prizes, or helping out on the day. Your support helped make the event such a success.

We would also like to thank Donegal Golf Club for hosting us and helping to make the day so enjoyable. ⛳️

Where do we even start?! The curtain has come down on the inaugural South Donegal Mini-World Cup, and what a day it was to close out the week. With the sun splitting the stones at Drumbar, we welcomed 180 players, their families and friends, club members and local residents to the Club for a brilliant day of football. While we'll continue to share footage from the event throughout the week, we couldn't let the day pass without sharing our absolute gratitude and thanks to a number of people, without whom today wouldn't have been possible:

- To Donegal's Mayor Anna Gallagher, thank you for coming out and kicking off our festivities
- To the Donegal Town Band for the amazing music in the run up to and during our World Cup Parade
- To Josh Cullen (Finn Harps & Ireland) and Teagan O'Reilly (Drumbar & Ireland) for being a real inspiration to our young players during the medal and trophy presentations
- To Ryan and the team at McBrew for the delicious drinks and treats throughout the whole event
- To Jason "Mr Mac" and the ice-cream van - the highlight of the day for many!
- To our facepainters Lauren Mulhern and Ciara McMenamin for adding even more colour to the event
- To Darragh Quinn, Malcolm Duncan and their Pier Force team for all their support with pre-event preparations and logistics, and for the incredible drone footage from today
- To Matthew Harvey at MH Visuals for capturing images from the big event - we can't wait to see them!
- To the staff and Board of Gaelscoil na gCeithre Máistrí for the use of their incredible new facilities throughout the week
- To Paul O'Sullivan at Donegal Online for providing a livestream of our parade this morning and his support in advertising the World Cup event
- To the Drumbar club volunteers that showed up in their dozens today and throughout the week to ensure everything ran smoothly
- To the Mini-World Committee for the effort that's been going on behind the scenes for months to make this week happen
- To Paddy and Enda Brogan and our Chairperson Kevin Martin for their continued backing and dedication to this club and its ongoing development
- And finally, to every single one of the young players and their families who turned out in such numbers this week to make this event the spectacle that it was.

We can't wait to see you all back here in June 2027!!!

The stage is set for tomorrow's Final Day event 😍

On top of all the footballing action, we'll have our World Cup Parade (complete with marching band), an ice-cream van, face-painters, and caffeine supplies from McBrew to help make it a day to remember for all the family.
