Acknowledgements
The family of Finn Gallagher, who left this world so suddenly on the 30th of June 2026, wish to acknowledge all those who showed us such great support and help during his wake and funeral.
Thanks to the paramedics who assisted on that tragic day. Sincere thanks to Enda and Seamus Faulkner Undertakers, who went above and beyond to make things perfect for Finn during the wake and funeral mass. Enda’s empathy and gentle guidance at this very tough time is very much appreciated and will not be forgotten. Thanks so much to Gale and Patsy Kelly of Tyrconnell Funeral Home who provided a homely, comfortable and welcoming space where Finn’s family and friends were so well looked after and minded, during the wake. Thanks to Eileen Carr for playing that gorgeous piano, thank you.
Thanks to Fr. James Gillispie who attended Finn’s home and wake, providing prayers and support. Thanks also to Fr James for the beautiful funeral mass which was so meaningful to all who loved Finn. Thanks to Brian O’Sullivan, Siobhan McGroarty, Ann Hayes. Shane Gallagher and members of Clar Choir who provided the consoling music at Finn’s funeral mass. Thanks to Donegal Town Community Band, a big part of Finn’s young life, who played at the chapel door and at the graveside. Finn’s passion in life was music, so anywhere that music can provide a comfort to the heart and soul is much appreciated. Thank you all so much.
Thanks to Leghowney Community Hall who proved once again how important community is. The outpouring of love for Finn and for us his family was powerful. It came at us like a wave and helped get us through. Thanks to all who helped prepare the refreshments at the hall and served so many people who turned up. Thanks to The Harbour restaurant and Harvey’s Point hotel who provided lunch after the funeral and also to Franck Pasquier for providing his wonderful breads and pastries.
A special thanks, most sincerely, to all of Finn’s wonderful friends who never left his side during the wake and funeral. At this heartbreaking time of loss to all of you, it is a true testament of your combined love, strength and friendship. You are a credit to yourselves and your families. Lily especially, has gained amazing support from Finn’s many friends, who have told her she has 100 new brothers now.
Also thank you so much to all our friends, family and the wider community who surrounded us with so much love at this unimaginable time.
Thanks to the huge crowds of people who attended the wake and funeral to offer their sympathies. Thank you to all who sent mass/sympathy cards, prayers, messages or letters of condolence, flowers or assistance in any way. Thanks to those who wrote beautiful tributes for Finn or shared many happy and special memories. Thanks to all those who visited our house, or his grandparents’ house in Ballintra, bringing food, hugs and comfort and continuing to show support in any way they can in the difficult days since.
All who loved Finn are now custodians of his life’s legacy, of his kindness, his inclusiveness, his musical talents, his love of friends and family, his great sense of humour, his passion for live music, his intelligence, his compassion for others and his zest for life. As we mourn Finn’s loss, let us not forget who he was and how special he was to so many people, and continue to celebrate his beautiful life.
