Darkness Into Light Portnoo

Dear all,

We regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Narin Portnoo Darkness Into Light Walk, as well as all future walks.

This was not a decision taken lightly. Due to increasing commitments among our committee members, we have reached a point where we can no longer organise the event to the standard it deserves.

Since our first unofficial walk in 2020, the event has grown year after year. Together, we have raised over €16,000 in support of those who are struggling, which is something everyone involved should be incredibly proud of.

We would like to sincerely thank all those who have supported us over the years. There are far too many people to name individually, but your help, dedication, and generosity have made each event a success. You know who you are, and we are truly grateful.

If you have already registered for the Portnoo walk, please note that you can still take part in events at other locations.

We apologise again for any inconvenience this may cause.

Darkness Into Light walk 2025.

Just less than 9 hours now to our 4th Darkness Into Light Portnoo walk and here is some important information regarding the same.

🎶 We will be using the main hall for our speeches and music will be by Charles James and the Rise.

🚶 The walk will commence from The Dolmen Centre (F94DN83) at 4.15am. The route is passing Barrett's Tavern and continue to Annoras pub, keeping left and continue to Portnoo Church. You will turn here and back down the slip road towards the beach, back up by Annoras again and back to the Dolmen Centre.

☕ Tea/ Coffee and refreshments will be served in Dolmen Centre after the walk.

🚗 Parking will be limited at the Dolmen Centre, Kilclooney Chapel and at the Tavern.

🚰 Recommend that you bring your own water as we have only a limited amount of bottled water available.

🪣there will be a bucket set up and manned in the Dolmen centre for people who want to donate and their is also a scan to donate/ registrar available also. Registration will close at 3.45am. There is still time to register online www.darknessintolight.ie.

🔦 Please bring a torch / headlight and hi Viz.

🐕 All dogs must be on leads.

This year I would like to set up a remembrance table in memory of our friends, loved ones, family or work colleagues who have lost their lives to su***de.
You can leave your framed photo in the Dolmen Centre with myself between now and the 10th of May and will be returned to you after our walk. 💝💝

💥💥Only 6 weeks to go to our annual Darkness Into Light walk which is happening on 10th May at 4.15am. 💥💥
🏃🏃It's the same route which starts at the Dolmen Centre and continues right into Portnoo where hopefully we catch the sunrise and then back down along the beach front and back out to the centre again where there will be some refreshments served. ☕☕
