This is what one of our recent volunteers had to say about joining us on our Wednesday Soil and Soul mornings - “I decided to come along as I am lonely at home sometimes”-

And it’s one of the best reasons to come along. The second best reason is that we do have fun and always do our gardening tasks in a lighthearted way.

Picture of stuffed pumpkin from Shy by Nature Farm, it was my (Catherine who facilitates the sessions) first time stuffing a pumpkin and it was delicious!

Also pictured is Fergal Daly and me Catherine comparing Pumpkins!! Fergal is a development officer for DLDC and came to see what we do in the garden. He happily rowed in with us and helped move and sort all the rather big pumpkins.

Our Catherine Weitbrecht has been experimenting with this wonderful event on Wednesdays here. We are really loving the feeling it creates on the farm, allowing a space and moment for slowing down. As she says:

The highlights of the social gardening mornings so far:
-Meeting new and interesting people
-Sharing stories over tea and scones
-Novelty -in the form of music in the tunnel-/ delicious treats ie divine chocolate ganache truffles being brought to the farm by one group of visitors!!
- Seeing the delight on the faces of those collecting the pumpkins
- Enjoying glorious autumn weather, harvesting nature's bounty

Do come join us some Wednesday x
