Delvins Scouts Leader Mary Rennicks was nominated for the prestigious Cathaoirleach Awards 2026 in Belvedere House and Gardens.
It was a fabulous event created by Westmeath County Council. It was all about community spirit and local involvement.
Mary has dedicated years to Delvin Scouts and is very much appreciated for everything that she does.
Mary might have not won the award but she is an absolute winner in our eyes and her time and involvement in the local community speaks for themselves. We are so lucky to have such wonderful dedicated leaders in our community.
Well done Mary 👏👏👏

Our Cubs were exploring their local village today and taking in the learnings from last week - map reading and using a compasses 🧭 5km done in our beautiful sunny Delvin.

In association with national Bicycle week -

Well done to everyone today who took part in the cycle. Despite rain, hail and sunshine, we managed to do 21km. Fantastic achievement by everyone 🙌🙌 quick picnic and a play in Ballinea playground refreshed everyone. 👍 ✋ Well done to all 🚲🚲

What an amazing weekend for our scouts. ⛺ Camped in Athlone for 2 nights. They braved the cold nights, had fun filled days and made some new friends. ⛺ That's what camping is all about - and ofcourse setting up their own tents, washing their dishes, making their food. These are memories that will last.
Also well done to some cubs who camped for the first time ever. Super stuff 👍

The Delvin Book Festival takes place today from 12.00-5.00pm. With over 20,000 books from €1 there are plenty of bargains to be had. Good luck to all involved!

At noon this Sunday, 3rd May, the 16th annual Delvin Book Festival will kick off across various venues along Main Street. As always, St. Patrick’s Hall will serve as the event hub.

More than 20,000 books will be available across every conceivable genre. Rare and valuable book hunters should make their way to Mary Gaffney’s.

Music and Irish dancing will take place throughout the afternoon in the courtyard outside the handball centre.

Bring your bags - and be ready to browse!

What a fantastic effort put in by everyone in today's St Patricks Parade in Delvin. ☘️
Despite the rain, sun, and hailstones Delvin Scouts did an amazing job. With creativity galore representing the Movie UP, from outfits to making an actual house with balloons - it's superb 🎈
Also doing our bit for the community by doing a litter pick. Well done to all involved in Delvins Parade ☘️
