♟️ GIANT CHESS IS BACK FOR SUMMER! ☀️

We’re delighted to let everyone know that the giant chess pieces will be put out during the summer months (weather permitting) for all to enjoy! 🌤️

A huge thank you to the Tourist Office staff for facilitating this wonderful community amenity 👏

This is part of a Tidy Towns initiative and is a free amenity for everyone, whether you fancy a game of chess, want to teach the kids, or simply enjoy spending time outdoors by the waterfront ♟️💙

Please enjoy respectfully so everyone can continue to benefit from it 😊

Thank You 🙏 to Crosshaven Trash Talk for repainting the squares.

🟢 Period 3: Monday 25th May – Friday 29th May
📍 Harbour View, Crosshaven - Your Up

👀 Keep an eye out — judges may visit at any time (even though we still haven’t spotted them yet!).

👏 Well done everyone, on the fantastic effort so far. Unfortunately, the area around the Main Centre has let us down this round due to cigarette butts. Small things can make a big difference in the judging, and this is one area where we can all help.

Please take a few minutes to sweep outside your premises or consider putting out a cigarette butt receptacle. We are all trying to do our bit, and we need everyone to do theirs too.

🚮 One more judging round to go — let’s finish strong and keep Crosshaven looking its very best! 💪🌊🌿🍀

🪻 Fantastic work done today by some of the volunteers from Crosshaven Tidy Towns, Barbara & members of the CE scheme team. The transformation of the point area is brilliant to see.
🪻
As many of you know, Clara one of the volunteers, maintained this area for years, but unfortunately she is no longer able to keep it up.
🪻
Fair play to everyone who stepped in and took on the challenge today to bring the space back to life. Hopefully, we can now look at getting a new bench for the area as well.
🪻
We’d also encourage any residents living nearby to get involved where possible. There are only so many volunteers in Crosshaven Tidy Towns, and every little bit helps, whether it’s weeding, cutting grass, or helping to keep an area tidy.
🪻
We all want to see Crosshaven looking its very best, and community spirit like this makes a huge difference. Well done again to everyone involved 👏

Special thank you to Aidan, who mows the point grass area for us 🌻

🌿 Anti-Litter Challenge 2026 – 1st Judging Results -

♻️
A huge well done to Crosshaven on such an amazing achievement for a busy seaside community. Your hard work, community spirit, and commitment to keeping the village clean and welcoming is a credit to everyone involved.

🙏 Thank you to all volunteers, residents, schools, businesses, tidy towns members, and community groups who continue to play their part. We’ve already had some fantastic zero litter marking on the 1st judging period.

♻️
We are calling on everyone to continue helping out by keeping an eye on your area and picking up any litter you see, especially during the judging periods below 👇
Along with Crosshaven Village, business frontages, bus stop areas, and surrounding spaces, the following estates will also be judged this year:
🟢 Period 1: Monday 27th April – Friday 1st May

Another great showing of our 2025 Christmas lights ✨

It was lovely to see and meet people from far and wide coming down to enjoy our beautiful lights. It really gives us a sense of pride living in such a special area, with such a strong community spirit here in Crosshaven.
🎄
A huge thank you to everyone who came out this morning to help. Community is so important, and when we all do our bit, we keep moving onwards and upwards, bringing people with us and getting everyone involved.

As we put the lights away until next November (most are already down, with the rest coming down during the week), I want to say a special thanks to Eddie Buckley and Cork Scaffolding for the truck. It makes such a difference in safely storing all the boxes, the snowman, and everything else. We really appreciate it.

Thank you all once again a great community effort 💚
