⚓️ The St Brendan Voyage sculpture at The Point 🌊

This beautiful piece of work has been installed at the point beach, is now taking shape, with the return of the wonderful St Brendan Voyage sculpture, commissioned over 15 years ago by the Crosshaven Development Committee and created by the fantastic artist Mike Wilkins.

The sculpture had previously been located in the village, but its position meant it was too high up on the pole to be apperciated.
🔸️
I think this is an ideal spot, particularly given Crosshaven’s strong connection to the St Brendan Voyage.
🔸️
Back in the 1970s, Tim Severin’s replica of St Brendan’s legendary leather boat was built at the Crosshaven Boatyard, before setting off on its remarkable voyage across the Atlantic. It is a fantastic piece of our local maritime history and something that Crosshaven can be very proud of.

Having the sculpture here at The Point, looking out towards the harbour and the water, feels like a fitting place to remember that incredible story and Crosshaven’s role in it. ⚓️🌊

We’re just waiting on the planting around the sculpture to be completed, which will really finish the area off. 🌿

A huge well done to everyone on the Crosshaven Development Committee especially Chris Maverley & Audrey Buckley who have been involved in bringing this project across the line. Once again, it has taken a huge amount of work, time and commitment from our volunteers.

🌸 Breast Cancer Research - Breast Cancer Awarness Month October

Breast cancer affects so many of us, our families, friends and people we know and love. That’s why we’re supporting Breast Cancer Research this October.

🏊‍♀️ On October 11th, be part of a swim at Roberts Cove to raise funds for breast cancer research.

If you would like to take part, there is a sign-up card in the Crosshaven Tourist Office. Simply call in and add your name to the card.

If you can’t make the Roberts Cove swim, you can also organise your own swim and support the fundraiser.

There is a locked donation box in the Crosshaven Tourist Office for anyone who would like to make a donation.

Crosshaven Tidy Towns & Development Committee are delighted once again to receive funding from the Centra Crosshaven triathlon Challenge.
🏊‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️
This funding is so important to us and to many volunteer groups across the area. It helps us continue the great work our volunteers do throughout the year.

A huge thank you to the Crosshaven Triathlon team for all their hard work behind the scenes in organising this fantastic event and for supporting our community once again. It’s very much appreciated. 👏

🎬🌸 Murder, Mulch & Marigolds… and Crosshaven! 🌸🎬

As the movie 'A Tidy Town' is being filmed in and around Crosshaven, we were asked if we’d like to feature in it… sure, how could we say no! 😂

There’s murder, mulch, marigolds and a very competitive Tidy Towns crown , so it’s definitely no holds barred! 🌼🔪🏆

We can’t say too much… but we’re delighted to be part of the fun and see Crosshaven on the big screen! ❤️
