🔴 Fishery closures: IFI advises that & fisheries are temporarily closed to all angling due to high water temperatures 🟢 Cloongee fishery re-opens to angling on Saturday May 30 at 6am, as temperatures have cooled in Co .

🐟 The temporary closure of fisheries minimises additional stress on fish at a time when they are vulnerable to potentially lethal heat stress.

Would the Kilroe qualify ????

Would the Kilroe qualify ????

I welcome the allocation of €200,000 to Galway County Council for river and channel clearance works aimed at reducing flood risk and protecting local communities, along with a further €50,000 for Galway City Council.

The funding is part of a €3 million national OPW fund to support river and channel maintenance works.

Large-scale flood relief schemes are critically important, but ongoing maintenance of rivers and channels is equally important to ensure those investments continue to work effectively.

Simple works such as clearing blockages, removing silt build-up and improving water flow can make a real difference for local communities, homes, farms and businesses.

I also welcome the recent enhancements to the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme, which have now become regulation. The changes include increasing the maximum funding threshold per project from €750,000 to €2 million, increasing the OPW contribution from 90% to 95% for approved funding above €300,000, and relaxing some economic criteria to help local authorities respond to local flooding issues more quickly and effectively.
