We are an American Civil War re-enactment group based primarily in Cork with members throughout Ireland representing both the blue and the grey, telling their story. The P.A.R.D.S (period american reenactment and display society) was set up in the mid 90s by a group of like minded people who all shared an interest in the Irish contribution and impact in the war between the states. what began as a
few poorly equipped, untrained solders has grown into a colorful, exciting and noisy education and entertainment platform. Over time we have developed from a keen infantry unit to a multi-role company. Our members of all ages have the opportunity to receive either training on the foot and arms drill of the day or fall in with the color party/musical section and learn how the soldiers would have gone about there day to day life. in the last few years we have acquired 2 artillery pieces. We train our members to a very high standard in respects to safety and drill. this means we can go to different events and pack a bang in a totally safe and controlled manor, which always proves to be a crowd pleaser. But soldiering isnt all we do. We are always adapting and improving to cover as many aspects of the war as possible. we have a number of lady's who demonstrate the style and fashion of the day. these lady's often take men from the ranks and demonstrate the various dances of the day. we also have a camp surgeon who demonstrates the medical perspective of the war and a civilian journalist who explains and shows how journalism had evolved documenting the war in an unseen light. we are very much a family friendly group who encourage every one with an interest in the war between the states of any age to come along and see what we do.
