15 years ago St John Ambulance in Cork took a big step forward. After lots of planning a new division was set up in Glanmire. That division is now a thriving part of St John in Cork and nationally. Great volunteers doing great work for their community.

The mighty ladies of Cork yesterday won the O’Duffy Cup defeating Galway in the All Ireland Camogie Final. Tonight they returned to Cork for an open top bus parade through the city and our volunteers were there to support the crowd and cheer on our team. A great end to a long weekend for our volunteers.

The phrase variety is the spice of life certainly applies to this weekend’s duties. We had volunteers covering events all over the county from the Macroom Music Festival out west to the Youghal Half Marathon in the east. We had Karting in Watergrasshill and the Mighty ladies of Munster playing (defeating too of course) the Leinster ladies rugby team in Virgin Media Park. Whatever the event our crew turn up smiling and provide top class cover for our clients. Thanks to them all for all they offer.

And just like that the rainy season has returned and our volunteers have dug out the big coats and got on with the work. This work isn’t only for fine days and our volunteers get out there and do their work. Well done to all our gang as usual.

If you find yourself with free time at weekends and are looking for something to do then why not do as our volunteers do. This weekend we are providing care at events all over the county. From a medieval festival in Youghal to showjumping in Watergrasshill, from Cork City Football Club in Douglas Hall to the Pride events all weekend around the city. Our volunteers give their time willingly to support our community. If you want to give back to our community then there are few better ways than what our volunteers offer.

On what was arguably the hottest night of the year our volunteers provided cover at the coolest concert. James Taylor at . We think that even the younger volunteers(volunteers without grey hair) had a great night enjoying the atmosphere at a concert of timeless music. Volunteering always has its rewards but some days the rewards are better than others. St. John Ambulance Ireland - Limerick St John Ambulance Ireland

One of our crews were transported back to their youth today at a Rory Gallagher event in Fitzgerald’s Park. It’s ok though we sent a young volunteer to watch over them. Others were covering athletics in the MTU along with volunteers at other events around the city. June is our busiest month every year and our volunteers always rise to the challenge. Thanks to all our fantastic volunteers for all they offer our community.
