Beara West Resource Centre The Beara West Resource Centre provides support to people in our community through confidential one to one support, family support and social groups.

Beara West is a community-led space, here to listen, support, and evolve with the people of Beara. Rooted in connection and belonging, we adapt to the needs of individuals, families, and visitors, ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors feels valued and supported. The Project Co Ordinator, Claire Dickinson works with the Board to implement the workplan and work towards the overall development and sustainability of the project. The geographical area covered is Rossmackowen, Castletownbere, Bere Island, Eyeries, Urhan, Allihies, Garnish and Cahermore – all areas west on the Beara Peninsula. The FRC links with and works in collaboration with local and national agencies to share information, act as a referral point and to promote wellbeing within the community of Beara West. Were you a witch in a bin bag? A ghost in a bedsheet? Or sporting a homemade costume that deserves another moment in the spotlight? 😂

We’d love to see photos of you dressed up for Halloween when you were young, as we get ready for our Grandparents & VIP Halloween event — “Halloween in the Good Aul Days!” 🧡

If we get enough photos, we might run a little “Guess Who?” on our social media in the build-up! 👀🎭

📩 Send your photo by private message, along with your name and any memories behind the costume. Let us know if you’re happy for us to share it on our social media—and keep your identity a mystery until the big reveal!

Come curious. Explore something different. Discover the wisdom behind biomagnetism. 🌿

Join us for an informal and engaging evening with Alyson O'Sullivan, Advanced Biomagnetism Practitioner, and discover how pairs of magnets are used as part of a gentle, complementary approach to wellbeing. 🧲

Alyson will take us behind the scenes of a biomagnetism session — explaining what happens, how treatment is tailored to each individual, and why this fascinating approach has sparked so much curiosity. 💫

There’ll be plenty of time to ask questions, explore the subject and discover something new. 💬

Whether you’ve never heard of biomagnetism before, you’re simply curious to learn more, or you’re considering a session yourself, you’ll be very welcome. 🌸

💜 Today, Beara West acknowledges Féileacáin, supporting parents and families who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth. It is a day to remember the little lives gone too soon and to recognise the grief carried by bereaved families.

Tonight, as part of the global Wave of Light, St. Peter’s will light up purple in a show of support, remembrance and solidarity with families who have experienced baby loss. 🕯️💜

NeuroConnect: Community Neurodiversity Day

Join Beara West for NeuroConnect – Community Neurodiversity Day, a practical and welcoming day exploring neurodiversity across the lifespan.

Led by Evaleen Whelton of AUsome Training, the day will bring together lived experience, real conversations and practical ideas around understanding neurodiversity, sensory experience, communication and connection, mental health and wellbeing, looking beyond behaviour, and practical support.

Everyone is welcome including Parents, Siblings, Grandparents, Relatives, Friends and Neighbours. Let’s get the Community together and start the conversations about Neurodiversity.

Expect an interactive, practical and engaging day designed to build understanding, connection and confidence in supporting neurodivergent people across all stages of life.

Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and protected. 💚

This week, 12th–18th October, is Children First Awareness Week — a national reminder of our shared duty to protect children from abuse and neglect.

What you can do:
Learn the signs of abuse and neglect — they're not always obvious
Know who to tell — if you're worried about a child, contact Tusla (the child and family agency) or An Garda Síochána
Check your policy — if you work with children, make sure your organisation's safeguarding plan is up to date

Protecting children is everyone's job. Let's all play our part. 🌱
