📚 Back to School 📚

As we approach September and look forward to the new school year, we’d like to spare a thought for all the families currently living in emergency accommodation who are preparing for back to school.

Here at Good Shepherd Cork, we are supporting 102 children as they get ready for their new school year. ✏️

We’d like to wish all our Junior Infants and First Years the very best as they prepare for such an exciting milestone and another first. 🌟

To all the students heading into exam years, we wish you every success and hope the year ahead is a positive one.

And, of course, a warm welcome back to all our students and tutors as they reopen their doors in Bruac, our Education training centre after a well-deserved summer break. ☀️

If you are in a position to support our families in any way, please contact Ciara at [email protected].

Thank you for helping us make sure every child has the opportunity to start the school year with the support and supplies they need. 🫶

Education isn’t one-size-fits-all.

On Cork’s 96FM Opinion Line, Jacqui Jones and Ger Grant share how Bruac is helping young people who have been failed by traditional systems—not because they aren’t capable of learning, but because they face challenges such as anxiety, care experiences, and housing insecurity.

🎙️ “Not Bad at Learning, Just Failed by the System” is a powerful conversation about learner-led education, resilience, and creating pathways to brighter futures while helping teens avoid homelessness.

Nature’s little moments at Bruac. 🌿🐝

Our leek flowers are in full bloom and buzzing with life bees and butterflies absolutely love them. 💜

And sometimes, even busy bees need a lie-in! This little bee was still fast asleep at 9:30am, tucked up in a flower, and had flown off by 9:50am. A lovely reminder to slow down and appreciate the small wonders in the garden.
