Our inaugural Family Fun Evening was held in the bright sunshine last Friday at Murphy’s Farm Playground. The beneficiary of the donations collected from generous patrons will be Field of Dreams, Cork. There were many attractions for the children ,the Council Playground was a big attraction, kids were challenged at the Lifetime Lab Stand with Vex Robots providing the entertainment. The face painting had long queues of enthusiastic kids.
The adults were attracted to the vintage cars and the tours around the community gardens by Jean and her Bishopstown Tidy Towns Group.
In addition to the community gardens the Sustainability Theme was continued with WaterPower an Electricity supplier who generates electricity from Hydro Schemes nationwide and sells it to customers both industrial and domestic.
Another, Cork firm Clean Energy Solar who instals and commissions Solar Panels was represented by their Chief Engineer Arek. Items of Biodiversity along the nearby streams in Murphy’s Farm Regional Park were outlined by local guides.
Our Club was horoured by the attendance of the Lord Mayor Cllr Fergal Dennehy and the Lady Mayoress. The Mayoral party mingled with those attending over a two hour period in a fun atmosphere.
Minister Jerry Buttimer paid a visit to the event and stated his appreciation for all the great work carried out by our Club over the past 35 years in the Community.
The Club was delightful to welcome our local Cllr Ciara O'Connor who helped out in parking management at one stage
Our Club President thanked those who attended this inaugural event and who helped to make it so enjoyable. He said that Cork City Council were very helpful in making the venue available and in particular Mr.Steven Scully of the Parks Department. He thanked all the volunteers from the Lions Club and the Tidy Towns who helped in many ways to make the event a success.
