Ten years ago tonight, Carrigaline Musical Society took to the stage for the closing night of our very first production, ANNIE.
It only feels right that, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, we've come full circle and are bringing Annie back once again.
Looking back, we're incredibly proud of how far we've come. From those first nervous steps onto the stage to winning multiple AIMS Awards and raising the standard of our productions year after year, it's been an amazing journey.
That growth can be seen in the excitement surrounding this year's production. We are currently holding the final round of auditions for our children's cast of ANNIE, for which, we have received over 90 applications. To see so many young people wanting to be part of CMS is something we're immensely proud of.
This year's show is extra special because after an absence of two years of a full show, we're bringing a full Carrigaline Musical Society production back to Carrigaline. Quite simply, that wouldn't have happened without the incredible support of Stephen McCarthy and Astra Construction. Stephen's generosity and belief in CMS have helped make this possible, and we can't thank him enough. Community theatre only works when a community gets behind it, and we've been incredibly lucky to have that support from Stephen McCarthy.
While our children's auditions are nearly finished, we'll be announcing auditions for the adult cast in the next couple of weeks.
If you've ever fancied getting involved in a musical, now is your chance! Anyone going for a principal role will need to audition, but if you'd love to be part of the chorus, no audition is required. Whether you're a seasoned performer or have never stepped on a stage before, we'd love to welcome you to the CMS family.
As we celebrate 10 years of Carrigaline Musical Society, we're proud of everything we've achieved, but we're even more excited about what's ahead. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last decade — performers, volunteers, sponsors, audiences, and friends. Here's to the next 10 years, and here's to bringing the magic of musical theatre home to Carrigaline. 🎭❤️
CMS does have a few people to thank for getting our very show to the stage 10 years ago, and these people are Vincent in the Carrigdhoun Newspaper, Paddy Cronin of the Corner House Bar, Michael McGrath and Anne of the Carrigaline Community Association- without the assistance of these people, CMS would never have had the ability to get our very first show to the stage.
THANK YOU ALL.
