When you see an assistance dog out in public wearing their jacket, they are officially on duty. Their primary job is to keep an autistic child safe as they move through the world together.

Because this role requires their full attention, a sudden stroke or a friendly distraction can pull their focus away from the child who relies on them. Choosing not to approach or pet the dog keeps the child secure and allows the team to go about their day with confidence.

We always appreciate when people give our dogs the space to do their job. It is a simple way to help families feel welcome and safe in their community.

Thank you to the team at Johnson & Johnson in Limerick for their donation of over €5,000. During the presentation, the team enjoyed a visit from puppy Max and our long-term puppy fosterer, Michele.

Every year, employee commitments to the community are guided by the company’s Credo. Staff members nominate local charities, narrowing the list down through a vote to support four organisations for the year. We are grateful to have been selected as one of those charities.

The funds were raised through a sustainability initiative on-site. Instead of disposing of metal from machine upgrades and replaced parts, the team recycled the material and directed the proceeds to our work.

This support helps us train assistance dogs for autistic children and families across Ireland. Thank you to everyone at Johnson & Johnson Limerick for turning recycled materials into a real impact.

Every child deserves the freedom to explore the world safely and develop their full potential. For fifteen years, we have been training assistance dogs to help autistic children experience daily life with greater confidence, calm, and independence.

International Children’s Day reminds us of the importance of building a world that welcomes and protects every child, exactly as they are. When a child feels secure, they can focus on growing, learning, and sharing small moments of joy with their family.

Best of luck to Team AADI taking on the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon this weekend.

Some of you have been training for months. Some are fitting runs in around work, family life and everything else that comes with a busy week. Every kilometre covered and every euro raised is helping support autistic children and their families across Ireland.

Run well, enjoy the day, and thank you for being part of the AADI community.
