CATU Cork CATU Cork - grassroots tenants union winning real victories against landlords & Vulture funds profiting from housing crisis. Where communities have power.

We stop evictions, force repairs, organize communities. Your landlord is organized - time you got organized too. CATU Cork - Community Action Tenants Union
Fighting for Housing Justice in Cork. We're the Cork branch of Ireland's grassroots tenants union, and we're winning real victories for ordinary people against landlords, banks, and politicians who profit from the housing crisis. What We Do:
Di

rect Action That Works - We stop evictions, force repairs, challenge illegal rent increases, and hold slumlords accountable through collective power. Community Organizing - We bring neighbors together to fight for better housing conditions, defend public spaces, and resist the forces pricing working people out of Cork. Grassroots Democracy - Every campaign, every action, every decision is made by our members - because real change comes from the bottom up, not the top down. We Stand With:
Single parents facing unjust evictions, students priced out of accommodation, council tenants demanding vital repairs, private renters battling mould and endless rent hikes, families who refuse to accept this crisis as "normal", and anyone in precarious or emergency housing. Our Vision:
A Cork where housing is a human right, not a commodity. Where ordinary people - tenants, workers, families - control their own destinies. The housing crisis isn't an accident - it's a system. And systems can be changed when we organize together. Ready to fight back? Join CATU Cork. Because your landlord is organized, your TD protects their interests - it's time you got organized too. Building tenant power across Cork, one victory at a time.

Rents in Ireland have been rising at a brutal pace. In Cork, it's been even worse.
Cork is consistently among the most expensive rental markets in the country. The pace of increases here has outstripped wages, pushed families out of the city, and left tenants with less and less power to push back. That's not accidental. It's the result of policy choices that have consistently favoured landlords over renters.
From March 1st, the rules around Rent Pressure Zones are changing again. You deserve to know exactly what those changes mean for your tenancy and where the union stands.
CATU is hosting an online information session to break it all down: what's being changed, who it affects, and what we can do collectively about it.

📍 CATU members were out in Barracks Street area last night talking to their neighbours about the new rent & evictions law changes coming in March.

Most people hadn’t heard about them yet.

These rules mean:

📈 higher rents if you move
🤬 increased incentives for landlords to push tenants out
👎🏽 decided by a government choosing investors’ profits over peoples needs for affordable housing.

This didn’t just happen - it was a political choice.

👉 If you’re renting, this affects you and your community.

Members of CATU are holding an educational meeting to explain what the new rules mean and how tenants can fight back together.

Organised by CATU - because the only way these rules change is if tenants organise collectively.

Munster Regional Forum:- Saturday 24/01/2026

Friends, Pleased to announced that we will be having the Munster regional forum Saturday 24/01/2026!
The Munster regional forum is a chance for branches to get together and discuss strategy, learn from each other and overall have a bit of craic getting to know other branches.

This year after the passing of the National Restructuring motion, we also have to elect our National Committee and board members at the forum. If you are interested in a position please contact me!

We will also be having a regional campaign planning session to try and foster more collaboration between branches. Ending in two National actions days in March and July! Following the forum we will have a social!
