St Augustine's - the biggest Catholic church in Cork city - will close its doors for good this summer, partly as the result of a decline in vocations to the priesthood.

Fintan Gavin, Bishop of Cork and Ross since 2019, said that he understood the reasoning behind the decision, but that it was nevertheless a moment of "great sadness" for the city's religious community.

Well done Michael and the Team at Vienna Woods Hotel. A magnificent Hotel in the heart of our Local community.

I was sent this message by a very appreciative local parent.
" I want to give a big shout out to Michael Magner and his management team at Vienna woods hotel . So a few weeks ago I and many parents of the young Vienna woods banqueting staff (aged 16 to 19) received an invitation to a staff appreciation night . Unbeknowns to our children Micheal and his team organised a special 4 course meal to to thank all these young people
(Most of whom are Glanmire local young people) . Our children gave us parents a guard of honour into the ballroom . Much to their surprise our children had absolutely no idea the evening was especially for them. We were all then served an absolutely beautiful 4 course meal and drinks for the night compliments of Micheal. He made a fantastic speech where he talked about the value of staff and in particular our children. To be honest we as parents found it hugely emotional and were extremely proud & grateful to see our children being apprieciated so publically. During the meal Michael talked to each and every one of the parents about our children and how well they work as part of a team to make the hotel as special as it . He probably doesn't realise how much of an effect this night has had on our children and I know my child for 1 will remember this event for a long time. Thank you Micheal and your team for treating our children so well it was much apprieciated, if only all employers were like you. "
