Donoughmore Community First Responders

Donoughmore Community First Responders CFR's are trained to provide emergency care for heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, choking & First Aid. We service many areas incl.

Community First Responders (CFR) are volunteers who are trained to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work. Their aim is to reach a potential life threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives. Their role is to help stabilise the patient and provide the appropriate care including defibrillation, until the more highly skilled

ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment. CFR groups who are linked to the NAS National Emergency Operations Centre are alerted to an emergency in their area and as they are community based, can provide medical assistance within minutes of a 112/999 call being received. Please read. Please share.

Today, we have a dream. A dream that every classroom, every workplace, every sports club and every home will have someone who knows CPR. A dream that when a heart suddenly stops, fear won’t be the first response — action will be.

At Donoughmore First Responders, we are part of a nationwide network of volunteer emergency responders, supported by the National Ambulance Service, providing immediate care in our local area. We respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrests, chest pain, choking and strokes — often arriving before an ambulance to give patients their best chance of survival.

But our mission doesn’t stop there. We are also here to make sure as many people in our community as possible receive life-saving training, so that when emergencies happen, help is never far away.

Our goal for 2026 is simple but powerful: to get as many people in our community CPR trained as possible. Because CPR isn’t just a skill — it’s hope. It’s the difference between waiting and doing. Between loss and survival.

If you or your group would like to learn CPR, contact Donoughmore First Responders and we’ll be happy to organise training for you. So let’s keep training. Let’s keep learning. Let’s keep building a heart-safe community.

Merry Christmas to everyone ❤️🎄🎅🏼🤶🏼🎁

Especially to our wonderful local community. On behalf of Donoughmore Community First Responders, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has gotten behind us throughout the year.

To each and every person who supported us, spoke to us, donated to us, offered words of encouragement, said thank you, and so much more — we are forever grateful for the kindness and support shown to our group.

To the families we have had the privilege of assisting while responding to calls, thank you for welcoming us into your homes at what are often very difficult moments. You are very much in our thoughts during this festive period.

As we go forward into the New Year, we hope it brings you all whatever you wish for — health, happiness, and peace.

From all of us at Donoughmore Community First Responders — Nollaig Shona daoibh go léir ❤️

The National Ambulance Service has said there are thousands of defibrillators across the country not currently registered on its database, which could potentially delay a person accessing one of the life-saving devices in a medical emergency.
