Some of you might remember our Chanukkah Menorah from our celebration in Cork City Hall these last few years. This precious menorah made in the 1950s was generously donated to us by Brighton & Hove Progressive Synagogue, but had been in a poor condition for some time. We are very grateful to Alex Pentek, artist and creator of the Kindred Spirits monument in Midleton, Co Cork, for having restored our menorah to its former glory. It looks like new and will be deeply cherished by our community.

The corridors of Limerick’s Istabraq City Hall rang out with the sounds of Hebrew prayer on a Shabbat of this past fall to celebrate a historic occasion

Delighted to be part of the launch of this wonderful digital archive of Ruti Lachs 's research into Cork's Jewish history. To book a place at the launch. please contact the museum. Thanks to Cork City Council and the Jewish Historical Society of England for supporting creation of the archive

The last night of Hanukkah. Our community watched the lamp lighting in Shalom Park and enjoyed a wonderful reception by the Lord Mayor in City Hall. What a fantastic way to celebrate the 8th night and 8th Light.

The Cork Jewish Community is heartbroken by the news of the attack and deaths during the Chanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. Our prayers are with the Sydney Jewish communities.
In a world where antisemitism is sharply on the rise, sadly this attack has not come as a surprise.

May the light of our first Chanukkah candle remind us that we should remain steadfast in standing up against prejudice of all forms. And may it serve as a reminder that our people will persevere, and continue to find joy in the darkest of times.

We are consistently told by our ancestors that joy takes precedence over mourning. It is important to allow ourselves to experience the joy even when we feel sadness, grief and despair.

Four of our small Irish Jewish communities - Cork, Belfast, Limerick/Shannon and Galway - have 18 days to fund raise 2000 Euro to bring back four Torah scrolls from Haverhill, MA, USA. The four scrolls have been very kindly donated, but we need funding for plane tickets, safe containers for the Torah, and transport to and from the airport.

Please help these four small Irish Jewish communities bring home their scrolls before Rosh HaShanah to read from, and to dance with them on Simchat Torah!

In recent years, several small progressive Jewish communities have began to thrive in … Sophia S needs your support for Help Bring 4 Torah Scrolls to Ireland!
