On behalf of the the ACR Community Council we want wish John and Joan Crowley every best wish on their official retirement from public life today! Our community especially in the Rylane and surrounding areas have a deep since of gratitude and an extremely heavy heart as the curtain draws closed on a century of community service that words alone will never be able to express.

The Crowley family are a part of each and every part of all our lives who have had something always to offer, always willing to help and support us all over the last 100 years. As the next chapter opens for John and Joan may ye now enjoy the warmth of the community wrap around you and your family as one door closes and the next one opens.

Our community are unbelievably grateful for your service, may ye enjoy the life now that ye so humbly parked for us all and fill your time making the many memories with
your many close family and friends.

As the next chapter now opens for Nigel and Shelly also we wish you the very best of luck as you endeavour to keep the doors open. Big shoes to fill but we are all behind ye and are so happy that our Post Office and Shop are in safe hands.

In rural Ireland the local school and shop are the heart of the community. Together they connect neighbours and strengthen a sense of belonging and community spirit. At the top of the school road is Crowleys Shop. A daily meeting point where John and Joan were the familiar faces to greet you. A quick chat,a bit of news, some tears and plenty of laughs shared by many over the years.

As the PA,we are beyond grateful for the help which John and Joan have given us,whether it be promoting events, selling tickets or sponsorship,no ask was ever too big. The school children all visited the shop yesterday to invite John and Joan to a party for our school community to offer our thanks and to wish them every health and happiness in their well deserved retirement and we look forward to celebrating with them.

We would like to wish the Dennehy family every success as they open the doors of the shop in the coming days in a new chapter for our community.

And so John and Joan,we will take our cherished memories long into the future of the indelible mark you have made in our local community. May your retirement be filled with matches,All Irelands, concerts, holidays and new adventures! Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh!

Message from Aghabullogue Community Council:

We’re delighted to share that we are now almost three-quarters of the way to reaching our fundraising target for the second feedback sign — an incredible milestone. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the campaign so far.

We’re also pleased to confirm that Cork County Council has now installed the driver feedback sign on the Rylane side of the village — great news for road safety in Aghabullogue.

With your continued support, we hope to reach our goal very soon. Please continue to share the campaign, and remember that every donation, no matter the amount, is truly appreciated.

Thank you again for backing this important community project.

Rylane Community Park Association is proud and excited to see the building works continue on the site of our new Community hub.

As you may know, we have received €1.845m in funding for the building of the Rylane Community Center Hub as part of a Government Community Funding Initiative. The building is due for completion by mid/late 2026 and will be a huge asset to the community as a whole.

As we begin this exciting final phase our community building, we need Donations and Community fundraising involvement more than ever. We have multiple financial construction commitments we must meet and to do so we need as much support as possible.

We have a total goal to reach of €400,000 and we won’t be able to reach this without your help. This includes the balance of the previous loan for the Astro/playground. We have a dedicated Donation page to track this fundraising, look out for some fun events and activities in the near future.

Please consider a donation (big or small) to Rylane Community Park Association today!

Cork County Council wishes to convey its profound sorrow at the passing of Councillor Michael Creed.
A proud Fine Gael representative, Cllr. Creed first joined Cork County Council through co-option in 2007 and went on to secure re-election in every subsequent local election, a reflection of the strong and enduring support he held among voters. A native of Clondrohid, he served the Macroom Municipal District with commitment and integrity.
Throughout nearly twenty years in public life, he earned a reputation as a steadfast voice for the Macroom-Millstreet area. His colleagues across the political spectrum recognised his deep understanding of local issues and his unwavering dedication to the communities he represented. A champion for rural Ireland, he worked tirelessly to advance the needs of those living and working in the countryside.
Outside his council duties, Cllr. Creed was employed with the Department of Agriculture, where he engaged daily with farmers from across Cork North West, offering practical assistance and support.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley, remarked:
“Members and staff of Cork County Council are deeply saddened by the loss of our esteemed colleague. His passing is felt not only within the Council but throughout the community he served with such devotion. In all my dealings with him, his commitment to community life, his focus on rural issues, and his determination to ensure fair representation were always evident. He was widely respected by those he represented, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, his friends, and all who worked alongside him.”
Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Moira Murrell, added,
“Cllr. Michael Creed’s service to rural communities has created a legacy that will endure for many years. He will be missed by all across Cork County Council. I offer my sincere sympathies to his family, his colleagues, and those he served with such dedication.”
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Details regarding a book of condolence will be announced in due course.

Final Significant delays Next Week !!!!

This is to facilitate the final black top dressing similar to the school road. Thanks again to everyone involved in this project to date, weather has delayed the works but please remain patient. Please refrain from contacting Cork Co. Council unless urgent as they are doing everything they can to get this life saving project over the line!

Traffic lights will remain in place until final road markings are completed. Cork Council will do what they can to have this done the first opportunity post the black top dressing next week but again it’s weather dependent and may run into the new year.

Wishing everyone safe travels as we enter this festive season , hope all your families have a peaceful Christmas and a healthy and safe New Year!🎄🎄
