Cloughjordan Bring Banks Dumping Issues

Tipperary County Council are holding a public consultation about the use of CCTV cameras to monitor illegal dumping at 6 specific locations, one of which is Cloughjordan’s Bring Banks outside the GAA Centre. Dumping at the banks by a minority of people is an ongoing and unsightly problem despite various attempts in recent years to address it, public awareness, litter enforcement etc.

Tipperary County Council are proposing installation of a Closed-Circuit Television System (CCTV) surveillance system at the location for a specific time period to deter dumping.

Submissions or observations are invited in relation to the 2026 CCTV Project and can be made, in writing to: Environment and Climate Action,Tipperary County Council, Civic Offices, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
or, by email, to: [email protected].

Submissions or observations should be entitled “CCTV 2026 Project”.

Another great guided cycle coming up next weekend, it will be an easy ride and occasional cyclists are especially welcome along 🚴🚴‍♂️

Thanks to The Irish Cycling Campaign and Tipperary Sports Partnership.

Heritage Week may be over, but we still have one more very exciting event in store!

This is a quick reminder to join us next Saturday 5th September for our guided heritage cycle, meeting at 10am outside Middle Country Café.

This historical cycle will be guided by Caimin O’Brien, archaeologist with the National Monuments Service and fountain of knowledge when it comes to the hidden history of this parish!

The cycle will follow a relaxed-paced route towards Cullenwaine Castle and Bawn, where we will be welcomed by the Chadwick family. Here, Caimin will give a fascinating talk about the remarkably intact medieval tower house, defensive enclosure, 17th century house and medieval churchyard that still define the landscape of these townlands.

We will then head out towards Emill and Templeharry (itself a treasure trove of history!) on our way back to Cloughjordan via the Brownstown Bog Road, with pit stops as Caimin points out any pieces of hidden history we pass along the way.

A reminder that this event is free and all over 12s are welcome along. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks and we hope to see you then!
