Clonmel Scouts along with the Clonmel Tidy Towns took part in the An Taisce - National Spring Clean.

Our youth members and adult volunteers from all sections started from the outskirts of Clonmel Town to litter pick different routes to the Kickham Plaza.

In total our scout group collected 183.14 kg, thanks to the Tidy Towns for arranging for the Clonmel Borough District to collect the gathered bags of rubbish.

With Camping season around the corner our 1st & 4th scouts got to work on checking our Icelandic tents at their meeting last night.

All tents were checked for any issues or damage and also to make sure they all had a proper ground sheet and the right set of main guys.

It’s of great importance that the tents are checked on a regular basis to ensure that they are ready for use for upcoming weekends away and annual camp.

Our 1st & 4th Scout Section also took part in the Tipperary Scout County shield this weekend just gone in Cashel Rugby Club.

The scouts showcased some brilliant skills and pioneering this weekend but unfortunately weren’t successful at gaining a place at this years Phoenix Challenge.

Onwards and upwards and hopefully next year we will have more success at the shield competition.

Congratulations to our sister troop Clonmel 22nd whose Shark Patrol and to our friends in Ballymacarbry Scout Group whose Cobra Patrol will be heading to the Phoenix this year.

We have no doubt that they will represent our county with pride at the Phoenix.

We as a group are extremely proud of all scouts who participated and represented the group at this year’s County Shield.

Last Tuesday you may have seen the 1st Tipp ventures out and about with our hi-vis and litter pickers.

We spent and hour and a half litter picking along the Clonmel bypass between Gurtnafleur Business Park and Hot Shots Bowling.

In such a small stretch of road we collected 27kg of rubbish!!

Great to make a difference and have a great rubbish detector, Polly, with us ☺️

Our 1st & 4th Scouts also took their weekly meeting outdoors and were practicing their Icelandic tent pitching.

Scouts are preparing for upcoming events like the Tipperary Scout County shield next weekend and upcoming camping trips away over the next few months.

It’s great to see canvas tents being used and that only means one thing that camping season is fast approaching and we can’t wait.
