1st Tipp Ventures Awards Night 2026 🎉🏆

A jersey themed night for the 1st Tipp Ventures awards (except for Sinéad who couldn't find the one jersey she owns!) along with the obligatory takeaway 🥡🍔

A great way to celebrate all the hard work done by our Ventures this year. Well done to all our winners!

Thanks to Group Leader Pa English for joining us on the night to hand out the awards and celebrate our Ventures!

🧭 County Orienteering Competition 2026 🧭

Our 1st & 4th Scout Section were also out and about last weekend as they attended the Tipperary Scout County Orienteering Competition in Dundrum International Scout Centre in Dundrum Co. Tipperary.

12 scouts from the section took part in the competition and were accompanied by two of their leaders on the day.

Scouts preformed extremely well on the day taking 1st and 2nd places in both the over and under 14 categories.

Cubs from both 1st & 4th and 22nd also took part in the cub orienteering competition.

Congrats to both Tipp Town and Cashel for winning the team awards on the day.

Overall a fantastic performance and turnout for the first county event of this scouting year.

Some of our 4th Tipperary Ventures crew headed to Glenshelane scout campsite last weekend via the old Mount Mellery Scout Centre.

Unfortunately the fog and mist put a stop to some of their planned activities. However all in all there was some beautiful hikes, questionable food choices, a pit stop to SuperValu in Cappoquin for treats and about 700 pairs of socks worn.

But the crew and their leaders all came away from the adventure both happy and tired which are two of the best characteristics of a well planned and enjoyable event.

This adventure is the final step for some of the crew who have now completed their Chief Venture Award and they will be presented this award later in the scouting year.

Bravo to all the crew who took on this challenge and to their leaders for helping them achieve what they have achieved while taking on the challenge.

We’re all extremely proud of this bunch of ventures and wish them the best in their future scouting journey.

🦫 BEAVER AWARDS NIGHT 2026 🦫

Both our Beaver sections recently held their joint awards night in the hall.

Beavers were joined by their parents and leaders along with our group leader Pa to celebrate their achievements during the last year of scouting.

Awards presented on the night included

⚜️ Best Attendance
⚜️ Beaver of the Year

🏅Medals were also awarded for Competition of Beaver Scouts.

22nd Scouts Adventure Weekend!

What a brilliant weekend for the 22nd Scouts first weekend away of the season at Castleconnell Campsite

The adventure started with a night of hammocking, followed by cooking supper on Trangias — a great way to kick off the camp!

Saturday was packed with outdoor skills and plenty of fun, including fire lighting, shelter building and cooking dinner on gas stoves. We finished the day around the campfire with St Johns Scouts 03/14 Limerick and 1st + 4th Cubs.

A fantastic weekend of learning new skills, teamwork, outdoor adventure and, most importantly, having fun together!

Our 1st & 4th Scout Section are back to weekly meetings and have started off the new year of scouting by going back to basics with their knots and lashings.

Tonight our scouts were joined by some of the 22nd cubs who will be joining the scout section in the coming weeks. Cubs are currently taking part in their cub to scout link badge.

The scouts were showing the cubs how to do the basic knots during the meeting.

Scouts and cubs also got a lesson on the basics of using pulleys.

Scouts will continue with knots and lashings for the coming weeks as part of their program and these knots and lashings will be put towards a pioneering projects in the coming months.

A huge congratulations to Thomas O’Donnell on receiving his 2 Year Service Award, and to Molly Magner on her 5 Year Service Award!

Adult volunteers are at the heart of a thriving Scout group. Their time, commitment and enthusiasm help create opportunities for young people to learn, grow and enjoy Scouting.

The Clonmel Scout Group would like to highlight that our Annual Flag Day Collections will be taking place this weekend on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September.

These flag days are one of our many vital fundraising events as all profits are put back into the upkeep of our Den in Sarsfield Street.
