We’re delighted that Inishowen Credit Union have replaced the AED and box located at Leenan Beach.

This area sees thousands of visitors and locals attend every year to enjoy the scenery and fine beach, and being so very remote, a working AED is vital.

We thank Inishowen Credit Union for upgrading the current AED and we are happy to include it in our current maintenance portfolio of AED’s in the area.

It was great to be able to fund the replacement of the defibrillator at Leenan Bay through our Community Fund ❤️

When Clonmany Community First Responders approached us and highlighted that the existing unit needed to be replaced, we were happy to help. Access to a working defibrillator can make a vital difference in an emergency, and we're proud to support initiatives that help keep our community safe.

👏 A huge thank you to Clonmany First Responders for the incredible work they do and for helping ensure this important lifesaving equipment remains available for everyone who may need it.

📢 Please share this post as knowing where your nearest defibrillator is can save lives. Every second counts. ⏱️❤️

While extreme cold can have detrimental effects on the batteries in AED’s, extreme heat can also have negative effects.

Take a moment to observe your AED in the current great spell of weather we’re having, just to make sure it’s ok.

Hot temperatures can significantly impact the life and performance of defibrillator batteries. Extreme temperatures, can affect the electrode pad gel, rendering the pads unusable. Extreme heat can also damage the internal components of a defibrillator, leading to malfunctions or complete failure.
Please check the storage condition of your AEDs, whether in your car, storage cabinet, dressing room or building. Check manufacturer's recommendations for more information.

Massive thanks to Inishowen Credit Union for yet another public AED.

Mamore Gap is attended by hundreds of locals and visitors every year. The AED is a great addition and we are delighted to include it in our maintenance programme…

This important addition will help improve access to life-saving equipment within the local community and for everyone visiting the area 🏔️

A special thank you to Richard and the team at Mindoran Construction who installed the solar-powered base for the defibrillator, your support and kindness are greatly appreciated ❤️

Last week our responders completed the Irish Heart Foundation Heartsaver/CFR Community training course on chest pain, stroke, cardiac arrest and choking.

This is a mandatory course which must be completed every 2 years.

We can’t believe it’s already more than 2 years since we began training as CFR’s.

All our responders are now re-certified and ready to respond to calls in the community. It was fantastic to formerly refresh our skills.

Massive thanks to Roddy and the brilliant team at Newtowncunningham Community First Responders NCFR for their help and giving up two long evenings to complete the course.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to Rasheeny Football club for the use of their amazing facilities for both nights 👏

Our volunteers responded to 4 calls over the month of April. 👏 Thank you all for your continued support

We now have children’s AED pads along with each defibrillator at Cloontagh NS, Centra Clonmany, Tiernasligo NationalSchool, Rashenny N.S. and located inside the building at Bizzy Bees Creche Preschool.

It is important to note that each of these AEDs are currently fitted with adult pads as standard.

In the event that paediatric pads should be needed, simply disconnect the adult pads fitted to the AED and plug in the paediatric pads that are along with the AED in the cabinet.

Paediatric pads are clearly labeled and the instructions on the packet should be followed to fit them.

Remember in an emergency always dial 999 or 112 and request the National Ambulance Service (NAS).

Responders will automatically be dispatched if it falls within our response category.

🌅 Sunrise Walk 2026 🌅

This years sunrise walk is in aid of our local Lough Swilly RNLI - another voluntary organisation that relies on fundraising to keep 'afloat' - your generous support €€ matters more than ever in meeting the costs of saving lives at sea. Volunteer lifesavers give their time for free, but they need training, well-maintained equipment, lifeboats and shore facilities. 🚢
There will be a MARQUEE in the carpark for shelter so please please come along and support our local services (charity belongs closer to home sometimes) 💪🙏

Ample parking down at Binnion courtesy of our good friend Mamie Grant 😊 Bring the whole family. -what a lovely start to your morning. Refreshments ☕️🫖🥪🧁 served back in car park afterwards.

Please tag your walking buddies, get yourself organised and please SHARE away folks...

*** Donation Buckets *** are in Centra Clonmany, Post Office Clonmany, Brennans chemist and Williams Butchers for anyone who cannot make the walk but would like to make a donation 👏
