Another amazing night was had at the National Bikers Memorial last Friday night. We are constantly reminded and blown away by what a fantastic community, the biking community is. Which leaves us with the annual, delightful, duty, to record our thanks to all of you who came from far and wide just to show your support to our bereaved families and friends. Your presence is of immeasurable importance and help. To those who took part in the various roles, plaques, candles, gift bearers, the fantastic singers and musicians, Caroline Adamson, Maureen O’Shaunessy & Cathy Kirke as well as Beatroot and the many readers, we are forever in your debt.
The participation of so many, from all over the country, helps make the memorial what it is.
To Fr. Jim Moore P.P. and the Parish of Clones, for yet again affording us the use of the beautiful Sacred Heart Church we are truly grateful. To Fr. Gabriel Dolan, Fr. Paddy McGinn, the Rev Iain Cruickshank and Celebrant Keane Harley, our appreciation for your help and assistance in making this ceremony the unique one that it is. We would also like to thank Paddy Maguire, Sexton, for his assistance throughout the day and right to the end of the night.
This year we had a very poignant first, the first time all 6 display bikes belonged to deceased riders. We offer our sincere gratitude to the families and friends of the late Eddie McKenna, Ross Mulligan, Pat O’Shaughnessy, Derek Costello, John Smith and Ollie Murphy, for bringing these emotional machines to our service. It can’t be easy for you, but we hope, seeing them there, among friends, offered some comfort to you.
We would also like to thank the Borderlords MCC, Throttle Mad MCC and anyone else who stepped in to help with marshalling and parking. An outstanding effort, carried out excellently from start to finish.
From the media, we’d like to thank Strom Eaton-Kilgallen, from the newspaper Seachtain for attending and we look for to your article, tomorrow, Wednesday 20th.
Clan na Gael MCC who will again highlight the memorial and their experience of it, on the Motorcycle Hour podcast this Thursday 21st.
We were delighted also to have Dave and Zach from the Wheelie Good TV, YouTube channel, to film the entire memorial. The episode covering the memorial will appear on Wheelie Good TV’s channel this Saturday 23rd May. We encourage all to visit and view this episode. Thanks to those in attendance who took time to speak to Storm, Clan na Gael MCC and Dave. We really appreciate your support in sharing the story of our wonderful community.
Finally, we are privileged to have a large number of bikers willing to attended every year. Your presence gives so much support to grieving families. A huge thank you to everybody. Go raibh mile maith agaibh uilig. Keep biking, keep safe and we will see you all again in 2027.
