Recognizing that interaction between immigrants and citizens is a fundamental mechanism for integration, since March 2008, The Intercultural Centre has run a variety of programmes promoting and supporting integration and interculturalism*. (* Interculturalism refers to support for cross-cultural dialogue and challenging self-segregation tendencies within cultures.) Building the capacity of immigra

nts to integrate with, and participate fully in, Irish society.
• English courses
• One-to one English classes with native-speaker volunteers
• Community leadership course
• Personal development and job-seeking skills course
• ‘Women with great ambitions' support group

2. Developing activities and actions which promote dynamic intercultural dialogue between members of immigrant and Irish communities to promote interculturalism.
• ‘Unison' World Music Choir
• Intercultural Music and Dance events
• Senior Intercultural Chess club/ Junior Chess club
• Art Workshops
• Sewing/Crafts club
• World cuisine workshops
• Intercultural/Multicultural art/crafts exhibitions

3. Providing volunteer opportunities for members of Irish and immigrant communities to increase their participation in the life of the local community.
• Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian and other language classes with native speaking volunteers.
• Volunteering opportunities organizing and supporting the IC programmes/events. The Intercultural Centre is a drop-in centre providing the following services:
Information and referrals
Garda Clinic
Racist Incident Reporting System
Free PC and Internet access
Printing and photocopying ( a small fee is charged)
Meeting space for community groups

Friday: 09:15 to 15:45
Closed for lunch each day 13:00 – 14:00
