9th Mayo Claremorris Scouts The 9th Mayo Scout Troop is Claremorris's Local branch of the Scouting Ireland Organization.

Children can join from the age of 9, from there they will work their way through the ranks from Cubs to Scouts to Venturers and on to become Leaders(if they wish to do so). We participate in a variety of activities such as Camping, Orienteering, Hiking, Team Building, Raft building, Fundraising and many more. Throughout each year the scouts will participate in activities to earn badges. Scouts wil

l learn basic life skills such as tent pitching, building skills, cooking, first aid, team building and more.

Very wet morning for our 1st ever car treasure hunt. Thanks to all who turned out to support.

Winner Declan Heneghan and family, Partry, with 22 clues out of 25 answered.

Second place john duggan and family, with 21.5 out of 25 in a time of 51 minutes and third place Michelle O'Sullivan and family with 21.5 out of 25 in a time of 1hr 17 min.

9th Mayo Claremorris Scout Troop are running a Car Treasure Hunt on Sunday 29th March. 😁😁

Arrive at the Den anytime between 10 and 10.30 am to pay your entry fee and collect you map and clues.

The car that solves most clues and does the course in the quickest time WINS. 🏆🏆

We say a scouting farewell to the forever granny of 9th Mayo. Margaret McLoughlin is one in a million, a legend, kind, caring, funny and loving she has looked after generations of scouts in Claremorris for over 40 years. You are with your beloved Seamus and the two of ye will look down on us and mind us from afar. A fond farewell Margaret 💕💔

Thanks for everything

Margaret will repose in Gilligan’s Funeral Home, Market Square, Claremorris (F12YP74) Tuesday 3rd February from 6pm until 8pm. Requiem mass will take place in St Colman’s Church on Wednesday 4th February at 1pm with burial afterwards in St Colman’s cemetery.

Congratulations to all our Dúshlán participants..... Especially Kiefer who completed the 140km expedition and received his cert, badge and pin.

The first rover in our group to complete this distance. Well done 👏👏👏

Our Ventures and Rovers have arrived at Basecamp after a combined hiking total of 320kms 😲

What an experience for them. They relax at basecamp and take part in a range of activities while they get ready for assessments and finally awards ceremony on Sunday.

Either way we're fierce proud of them all 👏👏👏🥾🥾🥾

Best of luck to our very own Rover Kiefer as he takes on the Eachtranai 140km Dúshlán challenge on Thursday.

Himself and his Dúshlán partner will be challenged with walking 140km over 5 days on a limited budget while completing projects and keeping log books on the road, with a simple map and compass to guide them.

We wish him the best of luck on his adventure 🥾🥾
