Sasha, the Doll Fairy

When Oleksandra “Sasha” Kurova arrived from Dnipro in March 2022, she was instantly captivated by Longford’s “charming small bright houses,” which to her felt like stepping into a real-life fairyland.

With a lifelong passion for sewing and doll-making, Sasha has embraced the magical title of “doll fairy”—a name her community of makers uses to capture the magical wonder and creativity woven into each of her creations.

Her dolls are more than handmade treasures: they are stories in miniature. Crafted with patience, imagination, and often upcycled fabrics, every piece carries its own spirit—from delicate lacework to playful costumes inspired by nature and folklore.

Sasha’s dolls reflect artistry, sustainability, and resilience—each one a bridge between her Ukrainian roots, her new life in Ireland, and the universal magic of craft. Step closer, and let these enchanting figures share their stories with you.
