Ahare River and Biodiversity Group

Ahare River and Biodiversity Group We are here to protect, celebrate and improve the biodiversity & beauty of the Ahare (Inch) River Wexford.

We invite everyone who has an interest in the our Inch-Ahare River Catchment... in protecting and enhancing our local streams and rivers, to share old or new photos, video footage, drone footage, stories, poetry, musical pieces and/or songs...

The Ahare/ Kilgorman/ Inch River Catchment flows out to the Irish Sea at Clone Strand near Castletown in North Co. The river is named differently across th

e catchment from it's headwaters near Ballyfad as it passed through different Villages and Townlands - Clonlough River, Inch River, Kilgorman River, and finally the Ahare River. Please like and share right up along the catchment!

🌿 **Volunteers Wanted – Join the Ahare River & Biodiversity Group** 🌿

The Ahare River and Biodiversity Group was founded by local people who care deeply about protecting and celebrating the natural beauty of the Ahare/Inch river catchment and the wildlife that depends on it. Our mission is simple: **to work with the community to protect, promote and enhance our natural environment.**

We organise community events, biodiversity projects, educational activities and river awareness initiatives to help safeguard this special place for future generations. From family nature events and river walks to conservation and habitat projects, there are many ways to get involved.

We’re currently looking for **new volunteers** who would like to help support our work and make a positive difference locally. Whether you have a strong interest in nature or just want to lend a hand in the community, everyone is welcome.

If you’d like to get involved or learn more, please send us a message or get in touch.
🌱 Together we can help protect and celebrate the Ahare River.

⚠️ Community Safety Notice ⚠️
Hi everyone,
The Ahare River and Biodiversity Group would like to warn people to avoid the Ahare Road at all costs at present, as the river has burst its banks and the road is currently flooded.
The safety of our community is of paramount importance. Please do not attempt to cross, as floodwater depth can be extremely difficult to judge especially in low light or darkness.
We would also like to respectfully call on the council to consider closing this road during periods of severe weather and to provide cones or barriers to cordon it off for motorists when flooding occurs.
Please stay safe and feel free to share this message with others in the area.

Wishing all our wonderful supporters and everyone in the local commuinity a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
