Yesterday, 1 June 2026, a group of our volunteers completed the packaging of our latest humanitarian aid shipment, which will be departing in the coming weeks for affected areas of Ukraine. 🇺🇦

A huge thank you to everyone who donated items, volunteered their time, and helped prepare this shipment. Your generosity and dedication make our work possible, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued support.❤️💚

As this aid collection has now been completed, we are temporarily pausing the acceptance of item donations. This is because we are preparing our centre for our annual Summer Camp Programme for children, which will take place in mid-July 2026. Once the camp has concluded, we look forward to resuming the collection of humanitarian aid items and continuing our support for those affected by the war in Ukraine.

While item donations are on hold, any monetary donations to help cover transportation and delivery costs for this shipment are greatly appreciated and can be made through our website.

More information about our Summer Camp Programme will be shared soon! In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like to get involved, please feel free to contact us by email.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the Candle of Grace Art Competition 2026. 💛

Following careful consideration and thoughtful discussion, we have selected 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both age groups. It was not an easy decision, as every submission showed incredible creativity and meaning.

Prizes will be sent to all winners shortly.
In addition, we will be providing teachers with a general contribution to allow them to purchase treats for all participating children, as a small token of appreciation for their effort and participation.💝

Sharing the second batch of drawings from this year’s Candle of Grace art competition.

These artworks continue to reflect the creativity and emotions of children from Ukraine and Belarus, marking 40 years since Chernobyl.

Winners will be announced on May 1st, and in the meantime we invite you to support the children who took part.

Yesterday marked 40 years since the Chernobyl disaster a moment in history that continues to be remembered across generations. 🕯️

To honour this, we are sharing the drawings we received for this year’s Candle of Grace children’s art competition. 🎨
These artworks are the first half of the art pieces created by children from Ukraine and Belarus, reflect their thoughts, emotions, and hopes through powerful and moving imagery.

The winners will be announced on May 1st, however we would like to invite you to support all the children who took part. Every participant has shown incredible creativity and deserves recognition.

Apologies for the late notice — and for our long absence here. As we reconnect, we do so at an important time: one week before the tragic anniversary that changed millions of lives across Eastern Europe.

At Candle of Grace, we are children of Chernobyl who experienced the tragedy of April 1986 and received support from around the world. Each year, we come together to share our stories and honour those we have lost.

Our annual Chernobyl Day Art Competition shows that across generations, the emotions remain the same grief, pain, and hope. Through their artwork, young talents express this powerful history, and we deeply value every piece.

👧 Ages: 6–10 & 10–16
🏆 Prizes: €100 • €50 • €30

To all of our wonderworkers, a million thanks for letting miracles happen. May all your hard work be rewarded!

This week 760kg of Christmas presents have been sent from our centre to the Chernobyl children, and disabled children, orphans, elderly, vulnerable families affected by war in Ukraine.
Another 1,700kg of aid is prepared and waiting to travel.

Please help us to put more smiles and give more hope to those who are not going to
have a festive dinner, to those who might spend Christmas night in the darkness of a
wet basement filled with fear, to those children who have lost their parents due to the
cruelty of the invasion, to those who have written to St Nicholas and asked for a pair
of shoes, baby doll, earphones for their siblings for the chance to study online, as
many as 4 people in one room. To those who are praying for us to hear them and
respond to their pain.

10 days of our 2 week's Summer Camp are completed.
15 boys and girls took part and enjoyed their time together with our volunteers. History of Ireland, traditional Irish songs, drama and costume creation, drug awareness lesson, human rights lecture, arts and crafts, + more nature love days with farming and gardening we had during our second week together. There were no lazy hours, every minute was taken to learn, to explore, to share knowledge.

No words to thank enough all our volunteers for organising such a special program for kids and teens!
