We are really looking forward to this Mayo Community Futures event in Balla Community Centre on Saturday, 17th October 2026. Minister Dara Calleary TD will be joining us on the day, and he has been a huge advocate for the programme over the years.

We are excited to talk to community groups that have been through this process and those who are interested in finding out more. Community Futures has been transformative for many areas in Mayo, and it's really important to celebrate those achievements.

SEPTEMBER FREE COMMUNITY EVENT
AT KNOCK COMMUNITY CENTRE

The final free community event funded through IHREC will take place on the 26th of September from 12pm to 3pm at Knock Community Centre (F12 PH67). This month will contain a mixture of Dance, Music, Rhythm and Board games, suitable for all ages.

Lorcan from Mitchel Music will be holding a music and rhythm workshop from 1.30-2.30pm. Using drums, rhythm, movement and group participation, participants will explore how music can bring people together, have fun and create a shared experience. Everyone is invited to join in!

Laura Flemming is a professional dance teacher, performer and choreographer with over 15 years' experience. She will be hosting a taster Séan Nós dance workshop for adults and children from 12-1pm. Come and try Ireland's oldest form of Irish Dancing.

Comfort Games is Irelands leading neuro-affirmative social board gaming initiative. Playing games can help to remove social barriers and provide a platform for connection for all ages. They will provide a wide selection of board games on the day for participants to try from 12-3pm.

Refreshments will be provided for everyone in attendance so please come along and enjoy tea, coffee, and plenty of conversation. It promises to be a fun-filled day for everyone living in the Knock community.

📢 Grants Available for Climate Action Week 2026!

Mayo County Council is inviting local community and voluntary groups to apply for funding to host events during National Climate Action Week (Oct 12–18, 2026).

💶 Grants of up to €500 per group are available.

🌱 Events must be free, inclusive, and open to the public, with a focus on raising awareness and inspiring climate action.

Examples include: workshops, tree planting, sustainable food events, creative arts, repair & share, movie screenings, and more!

Family Carers Ireland are looking for volunteers to help with their Church Gate Collection in Ballina on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th September.

What will you be doing?
🙋 Welcoming parishioners and members of the local community
💶 Politely inviting people to support Family Carers Ireland with a donation
🪣 Holding collection buckets and approved collection materials
💚 Helping raise awareness of the vital work of Family Carers Ireland and the support they provide to family carers and young carers across Ireland
🙏 Thanking members of the public for their generosity
