This is to provide strategies on the topic of Sociodramatic Play linking the image of the Baby, Toddler and Young Child to the agency of the Educator.

These meetings are open to all service providers, managers, and educators, and it will be most beneficial to those who have previously engaged with the 'Exploring the Updated Aistear' workshops, which have been running since 2025.

National CPD Mapping Exercise: Call for Participation - We need your voice!

The Department of Children, Disability and Equality (DCDE) is currently working with Crowe Advisory Limited to support the development of a national Continuing Professional Development (CPD) mapping exercise.

📌This work aims to identify CPD training currently available across the Early Learning and Care (ELC), School-Age Childcare (SAC) and Childminding sector.

📝As part of this exercise, Crowe Advisory Limited will engage with key stakeholders to build a clear and comprehensive overview of existing CPD provision, levels of engagement and access, as well as future CPD needs across the sector.

📣Early years educators/managers, SAC practitioners and childminders are invited to share their experiences and insights through an online survey, which launched on 7 May 2026.

The Department of Children, Disability and Equality has announced increased Core Funding of €480 million for 2026/2027, representing a 23% increase on the current programme year.

From September 2026, new maximum fee caps will apply to Core Funding Partner Services, helping to make early learning and childcare more affordable for families. Most services are already operating below these fee caps and will continue under the existing fee freeze arrangements.

The increased investment includes:

An additional €90 million for Core Funding.
€21.4 million to support services in meeting fee management requirements.
Up to €45 million ring-fenced to support future increases in minimum rates of pay for educators and school-age childcare practitioners, subject to Joint Labour Committee negotiations.

The Department has confirmed that enhanced Base Rate funding will help ensure services can remain sustainable while continuing to provide affordable, high-quality early learning and childcare.
