The Corn Mill Theatre Group present their production of 'A Whistle in the Dark' by Tom Murphy in the Corn Mill Theatre on Easter Sunday 20th & Easter Monday 21st April at 8pm.
With a cast including Killian McGuinness, Mark Connolly, Derek O’Reilly, OisĂn Hourican, Larry O’Halloran, Philip McIntyre, BrĂan Murray and Gwen Brady. Directed by Raymond Hackett, with Killian McGuinness in the iconic role of Dada, this fiercely intense production of Tom Murphy’s early masterpiece will be experienced up close in the intimate Corn Mill Theatre, giving the audience a front row seat in the Carneys’ living room.
Synopsis
Michael Carney is an Irishman living in Coventry with his young wife, Betty. He has given lodgings to his three brothers as they establish themselves there, but far from showing him gratitude for his generosity, he is treated with derision and terrorised in his own home. One of Ireland’s greatest playwrights, Tom Murphy’s A Whistle in the Dark is a powerful portrayal of tribal violence and the devastation it brings in its wake. It remains Murphy’s best known and most performed play to this day.
