⭐️GOLD⭐️

Our Husky Patrol made us so incredibly proud at the weekend as they came 7th overall at The Phoenix Challenge, earning a gold standard and a spot in the top 10 out of 88 patrols!

The team represented the 55th with so much enthusiasm and kindness and have worked so hard to achieve this placing. They tackled bases, campcraft, cooking & eating and everything else thrown their way with good humour and really showcased the best of scouting. We could not be prouder 💫💫💫

A huge thank you to the event team for a fantastic event, and to all the 55th scouters who helped to get the team ready for the competition 👏

We are heartbroken to share the passing of Alan Shepherd, our friend and scouter.

Alan was a mentor, a role model and an always encouraging voice to our youth members, whose unwavering positivity inspired all who had the chance to scout with him. He supported and guided them in all he did as their scouter, and was most often found teaching them Backwood’s skills in the woods, hiking with them in the mountains, or teaching them something new around the campfire.

He was also our friend and a core member of the scouter team. Alan was always there to lend a hand and offer support to us all, both in the group, and in the wider county and scouting community. He will be deeply missed by the 55th, and all those who joined him on his Scouting journey.

Gone home.

We’re delighted with our new sound dampening panelling in the hall, it definitely makes a difference when you’ve 30 excited beavers running around!

A big thank you to Cork County Council for their help with funding for this project - it’s is hugely appreciated!

Three of our Scouts and our scouter Sean were in Sneem this weekend taking on the MPC! They had a ball and completed the 5 peaks with a smile ✨

Thank you to the MPC team for another fantastic event 🥾⛰️

We are so incredibly proud of our two teams who competed in the All Cork County Shield this weekend, taking home 2 gold standards, a Best in County award allowing them to qualify for the phoenix, 1st place in campcraft & programme for one team, and runners up for logs for the other!

These 16 young people are a credit to the group and themselves and worked so hard to get to this point ✨

Thank you to the organising team for a fantastic weekend!

On Monday the scout section got the chance to hear all about Caoimhe’s adventures on the Crean Challenge Expedition! She has made the group incredibly proud and is the first in the group to take on the challenge and achieve the pin! Bravo Bravissimo to our county neighbours Eimear from 2nd Cork and Caragh from Kinsale who also achieved the award 👏

Huge thank you to all the scouters who helped Caoimhe prepare for the challenge, and to the Crean team for an incredible event!
