Open Day at Ballyshannon National School on Friday, 6th November 2026.

if you have a child who will be starting school in the next few years, we would love to welcome you to our school! This is a wonderful opportunity to explore our classrooms, meet our teachers and staff, and get a feel for the warm, welcoming and supportive environment we offer our pupils.

Local Business William Alexander Toys named as a finalist for the Business of the year (Leinster) at 2026 Family Business Awards - well done guys 👏

We're finalists! 🎉 William Alexander Toys has been named a finalist for Innovative Family Business of the Year (Leinster) at the 2026 Family Business Awards, in association with Goodbody.

We're a father-and-son workshop in Timolin, Co. Kildare, designing and 3D printing toys, puzzles and stereograms by hand. Thank you to everyone who has played, guessed and cheered us on.

Winners are announced on 5 November. Fingers crossed!

Thank you to our volunteers Pat Donnelly and Avril Moran, who recently transported and returned 20 bags of empty cans and bottles through the Deposit Return Scheme.

We’re delighted to have raised an incredible €623.65! 🎉 This money will go directly towards contributing to the annual cost of cutting the grass in our village. 🌱💚

This would not have been possible without the fantastic support of our local community and everyone who has been donating their empty cans and bottles to our Re-Turn bin in the centre of Calverstown.

Every can and bottle really does make a difference! 🙌

Thank you to all our locals for your continued support of Calverstown Action Network. Together, we’re helping to keep our village looking its best. 💚🌳

👚👟 FUNDRAISING CLOTHING COLLECTION – BALLYSHANNON NATIONAL SCHOOL 🧸

Ballyshannon National School is holding a Bag2School fundraising clothing collection on Friday, 18th September! 🎉

It’s a great opportunity to clear out your wardrobes while raising much-needed funds for our school. The clothing collected must be good quality and suitable for reuse in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. 🌍

💙 AND AN ADDED BONUS!
LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, will receive an additional 10% from Bag2School, on top of what our school receives from the collection. ❤️

🛍️ WE TAKE ITEMS IN ANY TYPE OF BAG

WE COLLECT:
👕 Clothing
👟 Paired shoes
👜 Handbags
🧢 Hats
🧣 Scarves
👔 Ties
👖 Belts
🧸 Soft toys
🛏️ Clean, folded bedding and curtains
Please put bedding and curtains in a separate bag.

🚫 WE CANNOT COLLECT:
❌ Duvets and blankets
❌ Pillows and cushions
❌ End-of-life clothing
❌ Mobile phones
❌ Tablets

📍 Please drop your bags into the school any time this week before 10am Friday 18th during school hours.

So have a good clear-out, fill a bag (or two! 😉) and help us raise funds for Ballyshannon National School while also supporting LauraLynn. 💙

We are delighted to share that Little Stars Preschool & Afterschool has recently reopened under new management, and we are so excited for this new chapter! 💛
