Some of you may already have had the pleasure of meeting our Jack 😊
Jack has been with us since day one when the Community Café first opened. At the beginning, we naively thought he was a little shy... but how wrong we were! 😊
Jack is pictured here with Richard Brannigan, who looks after the TUS participants in this area. We truly struck gold when Jack joined the programme.
Jack is in charge of what we call the Tea Room, and when we say he runs it with military precision, we're not joking! The moment a customer orders tea or coffee, Jack is on it quicker than lightning and has it delivered to their table in no time at all. Our regulars all know Jack by name, and he loves nothing more than having a chat as he makes his rounds topping up coffee cups.
One thing Jack never allows is for the Burco boiler to drop below a certain level, ensuring there's always plenty of boiling water ready, no matter how many pots of tea are needed. Jack was off for a few days recently, and let's just say the Tea Room wasn't quite the same! 🙈 We let the boiler get too low and forgot how long it takes to heat back up, so we found ourselves boiling kettles over and over again.
Jack has also made great friends with all the staff across the road in Centra, who enjoy his daily morning and afternoon visits.
We are beyond lucky to have Jack as part of our café family. We regularly remind him how blessed he is to be surrounded by so many women 😂, but in all seriousness, this is just a small appreciation post to thank Jack for the good humour, kindness and calm nature he brings to the Community Café every single day. 💕
Thank you, Jack. We appreciate you more than you know. ☕❤️
If anyone asks us who Jack is our automatic response is “he is Mossie Hayes Granson”😀
