Saturday Morning at the South Kerry Sports Centre – Let’s Stand Together

We’re asking all coaches, parents and members to come along Saturday morning and stand united.

This is about one thing — our kids’ safety. The playing surfaces need urgent improvement to provide a safe environment for them to train and play.

Well done to our former players Patrick O’Leary , Dylan O’Donoghue and Ollie O’Sullivan who were with Kerry FC U14s in a tour this week in England.

They are coming home with 2 wins over Port Vale and Tranmere Rovers. A great experience visiting Old Trafford, Hill Dickinson Stadium and playing against Port Vale and Tranmere.

All your hard work & dedication is paying off

Today marks another proud milestone for the Kerry Schoolboys & Girls League as two of our U14 ETP players, Amy Rose Shanahan (Iveragh United FC) and Robyn Horgan (Milltown FC), take part in the FAI National Pathways Programme at Abbotstown.

Amy Rose and Robyn have been outstanding members of our ETP Programme over the past number of years, consistently demonstrating the dedication, attitude and quality that has helped them earn this fantastic opportunity. Their selection is a fitting reward for the hard work they have put into their development, both with their clubs and through our ETP programme.

The vision of the FAI National Pathways Programme is to ensure that every player with the potential to succeed, regardless of their background or where they come from, has the opportunity to develop, perform and ultimately represent Ireland at the highest level. The programme provides a highperformance environment designed to challenge players and further accelerate their development.

Everyone involved in the Kerry Schoolboys & Girls League is incredibly proud of Amy Rose and Robyn. Their achievements are not only a credit to themselves and their families, but also to their clubs, coaches and everyone who has supported them throughout their football journeys.

Our Director of Football and ETP Co-ordinator, Colm Murray, was delighted to see both players receive this well-deserved recognition.

“This is another proud day for our Emerging Talent Programme. Amy Rose and Robyn have worked exceptionally hard over the past number of years and have embraced every opportunity to develop. Their selection shows the positive pathway that exists for talented players in Kerry, and we are all looking forward to following their progress in the programme. Amy Rose and Robyn will be invited to our KSBGL Summer Camp next week, where they will chat to our young players about their experiences, answer questions and hopefully inspire the next generation of Kerry footballers.

Kick off your Bank Holiday Weekend the right way 🏃🏼‍♀️

We're delighted to announce that Cahersiveen Community Games in conjunction with SK Striders Run Club are hosting the Valerie Edworthy Memorial Run on Friday, 31st July at 6pm sharp, With registration open from 5.30, its the perfect way to start the Bank Holiday Weekend and the first day of the Cahersiveen Music and Arts Festival.

Entry is completely free with a donation bucket available at registration.

Registration is essential.

Every euro raised will go directly towards helping Cahersiveen Community Games continue to grow and provide fantastic sporting and cultural opportunities for children throughout our community.

Cahersiveen Community Games continues to go from strength to strength, giving local children the chance to take part in a huge variety of sporting and cultural activities while creating lifelong memories, friendships and opportunities.

Whether you're running for a PB, jogging with friends or simply getting out for some fresh air, we'd love to see you there. Runners, joggers, walkers, everyone is welcome!

Eight miles off the coast of County Kerry, a jagged pinnacle of rock rises straight out of the Atlantic. On its highest ledges, reached by more than six hundred stone steps cut into the cliff, stand the remains of one of the most remarkable monasteries in the Christian world, built by monks who chose this wild place to be as near to God and as far from the world as any people could be.

From around the sixth century, a small community of monks lived here in beehive shaped huts of drystone, growing what little they could, gathering rainwater, and enduring the storms that battered the island through the long winters. They came seeking hardship as a path to holiness, and few places on earth could offer more of it. That their huts and oratories still stand after more than a thousand years is a wonder in itself.

Skellig Michael speaks of a particular Irish genius, a marriage of deep faith and stubborn endurance set against one of the most dramatic landscapes in Europe. To see it is to understand something essential about the island that shaped our ancestors, a place where the spiritual and the elemental have always stood very close together.
