Every person living with dementia has their own life story, experiences, routines, and personality.
That’s why person-centred care matters so much 💙
At CareBright, we focus on getting to know the individual — what brings comfort, joy, confidence, and connection — so we can provide care that supports dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Because great dementia care is about seeing the person, not just the diagnosis ❤️

Meaningful activities don’t have to be complicated.
Simple everyday moments like baking, gardening, folding laundry, listening to music, or looking through old photos can help people living with dementia feel connected, confident, and purposeful 💙
At CareBright, we focus on the small activities that bring comfort, familiarity, joy, and a sense of achievement every day.
Because small moments truly matter ❤️

The way we respond can make all the difference.
For a person living with dementia, feeling rushed, confused, or overwhelmed can be frightening. A calm voice, reassurance, patience, and gentle communication can help someone feel safe and supported 💙
At CareBright, we believe compassionate, person-centred care starts with understanding, connection, and respect.
Sometimes the simplest approach is the most powerful.

Small things can have a big impact on a person living with dementia.
Noise, bright lights, busy environments, confusion, or feeling rushed can all cause distress and anxiety.
At CareBright, we focus on creating calm, supportive environments where people feel safe, comfortable, and understood 💙
Sometimes the smallest changes — a quieter space, a reassuring voice, or a familiar activity — can make the biggest difference.

Responsive behaviours can include things like:
• Repeating questions
• Wandering
• Declining care
• Restlessness or agitation
These behaviours are not “attention seeking” or “bad behaviour”.
They are often a response to confusion, fear, pain, overstimulation, or an unmet need.
At CareBright, we focus on understanding the reason behind the behaviour so we can provide calm, compassionate, person-centred support 💙
Because understanding changes everything.

Be creative about including movement within seated dancing activities.
Using brightly-coloured scarves or ribbon sticks can bring in more fun and individual expression. Find songs which inspire people to move more for example the Hokey Pokey/Hokey Cokey or great children’s classics like ‘Happy and You Know It’ and ‘Row Your Boat’. Try using paper plates to move to the changing tempo of the ‘Zorba the Greek’ dance.

Choose music which is likely to get the feet and arms moving – Waltzes, Rock and Roll, Scottish or Irish reels etc.

Dementia Action Week is just around the corner. Taking place between 18 - 24 May, it is an awareness campaign led by Alzheimer’s Society, bringing people and organisations together to act on dementia.

There are plenty of ways to get involved, whether sharing your story, putting up posters, holding an event, or proudly wearing your Dementia Friends badge.

If you're after some inspiration, have a read of our 2025 round up: http://spkl.io/6183A7HbH

Later this week we'll be sharing a bingo card fill of activities you can do as a Dementia Friend so show your support during Dementia Action Week and the Forget Me Not Appeal in June. Watch this space!

Sometimes behaviour is a way of communicating an unmet need.
A person living with dementia may become upset, withdrawn, restless, or distressed because they are:
• Confused
• In pain
• Frightened
• Lonely
• Overstimulated
At CareBright, we believe it’s important to look beyond the behaviour and understand what the person may be trying to communicate 💙
Compassion, patience, reassurance, and connection can make all the difference.
