The HSE Emerging Drug Trends lab has identified meclonazepam in two separate products being sold as counterfeit benzodiazepines (alprazolam) in the Dublin region.
Meclonazepam is a potent new psychoactive substance ‘NPS’ or ‘designer’ benzodiazepine.
It has been associated with adverse health effects including severe sedation or fatality.
It’s safer not use to use, but if you choose to use create a rescue plan, avoid using alone and get medical help immediately.

Change of date of Wicklow’s New Rents Scheme

The previously scheduled date of 3rd October 2026 to implement the new Differential Rent Scheme, has been changed to 7th November 2026.

Therefore, new rent rates for social housing tenants, those in the Housing Assistance Payment Scheme, and Rental Accommodation Scheme tenants will take effect from November 7, 2026.

The Wicklow County Council Housing Team, will host drop in clinics for tenants to discuss any questions regarding their new rents. Dates for these clinics will be provided at a later date on Wicklow County Council social media and website once industrial action is over.

Change of date of Wicklow’s New Rents Scheme

At today’s Special County Council meeting, the Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O’Gorman made a decision to defer the effective date of the new Differential Rent Scheme for Wicklow . The previously scheduled date of 3rd October 2026 to implement the new Differential Rent Scheme, has been changed to 7th November 2026.

Therefore, new rents for all Social Housing tenants, tenants availing of the Housing Assistance Payment Scheme and tenants of the Rental Accommodation Scheme will take effect from 7th November 2026.

Wicklow County Council Housing Team, will have drop in clinics where tenants will be given the opportunity to speak to a member of the housing team regarding any queries about their new rents. Dates for these clinics will be shared at a later date on Wicklow County Council social media and website.
