Ardmore Residents Association

Ardmore Residents Association A mature private Housing Estate in Bray Ardmore is a mature housing estate situated off the Herbert Road in Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.

Bray has excellent schools, shops, restaurants and leisure facilities such as bowls, tennis, sailing as well as the seafront with its’ promenade and the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk. Commuting to the city centre is well catered for with a number of bus routes and the DART. The M11/M50 is a short distance away providing access to both the city centre and the sunny south east. The members of the Ar

dmore Residents Association (ARA) aim to encourage and promote the upkeep of their estate and to liaise with the appropriate authorities to help achieve that aim. They hold a couple of estate clean-ups during the year where they trim verges and hedges, scrub graffiti and pick up litter, in a bid to make Ardmore one of the nicest estates in the town. Over the past few years there has been a program of tree and bulb planting and the provision of new shrub borders around the green areas of the estate. The ARA also run a number of fun social events throughout the year such as the Estate Barbeque – weather permitting! – and welcome a certain red-suited gent each December.

🚨 Herbert Road

I have set up a meeting on Wednesday 9th July with Minister for Transport Darragh O’Brien to STOP the proposed closure of Herbert Road in Bray.

From day one, I gave my word to local residents that I would use every lever available to fight this stupid and damaging proposal.

This meeting follows ongoing discussions with campaigners and residents & repeated engagements with the Minister. I have also invited every Wicklow Oireachtas member across all political parties to stand united in opposition.

❌ This plan is illogical and flawed
❌ It would cause lasting damage to Bray and beyond
✅ It must be stopped

I will not support the closure of such a vital route.

This is about protecting our community. I’m focused on action. That’s why I’ve brought everyone to the table.

I’ve also raised this directly with Wicklow County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland, and I welcome signs that alternative solutions may be considered as part of Phase 3 of the plan.

👏 A huge thank you to the local campaigners, to Cllr Melanie Corrigan, Cllr Ned Whelan, and everyone standing up for Herbert Road.

I’ll keep leading this effort until common sense prevails. Herbert Road must stay open – full stop.

A message from an Ardmore Park resident:-

One of our black cats (the larger girl) has been missing since about 15:00 yesterday Tuesday 15th April. She would never miss a meal and very unlike her to not arrive home. We'd be grateful if you could check your sheds and gardens. Her name is Kiki. She is wearing a bright orange collar as per one of the pictures. She has a distinctive split in her right ear and a little white fur under her collar. She's very friendly. We are based on the hill in Ardmore. Thank you

Hi all, an elderly neighbour was mugged earlier outside her house, they had robbed a kids bike from another garden and used it as a ploy to talk to her saying his bike was broken. She said he was pretending to be special needs. He went on to grab her bag, she tried to hold onto it but was dragged to the ground. Keep your eyes peeled!! Such scum bags about unfortunately🤬

Press Release

Bray Chamber raises alarm over proposed Herbert Road closure

The Bray and District Chamber of Commerce is seriously concerned at the apparent intention of the Local Authority and the National Transport Authority (NTA) to close the Herbert Road junction. We strongly oppose this move for the following reasons:

A. Impact on Traffic Flow:
The closure of one of only four key access and egress points to Bray will inevitably cause increased congestion both within the town and on major surrounding routes such as the Southern Cross and the Dublin/Bray Road. This will lead to longer delays and higher costs for businesses operating in Bray.

B. Effect on Tourism:
Bray already experiences significant traffic challenges during weekends and peak summer periods due to the high volume of day visitors. Removing Herbert Road as an access point will only worsen the situation, making Bray less accessible and potentially deterring visitors.

C. Disregard for the Community:
There is growing frustration among residents who feel their voices are being ignored. A consultation process that disregards the opinions of those consulted undermines the credibility of public engagement.

D. Ignoring Elected Representatives:
It is unacceptable that the expressed concerns of local elected representatives are not being considered in the decision-making process.

E. Lack of Transparency:
The Chamber calls on the authorities to release the cost-benefit analysis that justifies this decision. Any proposal with such significant consequences for residents and businesses alike must be grounded in transparent, evidence-based reasoning.

Bray Chamber urges the authorities to genuinely consider the views of the local community, as expressed through public consultation and their elected representatives.
The Herbert Road junction should remain open.
