Founded in 2014, we train on the Laragh GAA ground in Laragh as well as on the hills and trails of the beautiful Glendalough valley - could there be a better place to train?

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ New year, new hobby? If you're near Laragh or Glendalough, come run with us.

We train together throughout the week β€” friendly, coached sessions for all levels. Whether you've never run a step or you're building toward a spring race, there's a place for you here.

First two sessions are free. Just show up and say hello.

**When & where:**

πŸ“ **Tuesdays 6:30pm** β€” Speed work at the Upper Lake. Intervals scaled to your pace, stunning setting.

πŸ“ **Thursdays** β€” Two options:
- 6:00pm easy run/run-walk from the Woollen Mills (perfect for beginners or those easing back in)
- 6:30pm faster easy run at Vartry Reservoir (comfortable pace, good company)

πŸ“ **Saturdays 8:30am** β€” Steady session, then Winter League 5k/10k at 9:30am. The best way to stay consistent through the cold months.

πŸ“ **Sundays 8:30am** β€” Long run from Laragh. Easy miles, great chat, valley views.

Come for the running, stay for the craic. Drop us a message if you want more info or just to say you're coming: we'll look after you from there.

See you out there πŸžοΈπŸ‘Ÿ

Another busy fortnight for Glendalough AC, with members racing everywhere from Clonakilty to Raheny, across Naas, Dundalk, and into the hills for the first IMRA Winter League outings of 2026.

Between 16 Jan and 2 Feb, we logged 28 race results β€” a little below last year’s tally, but the performances were anything but quiet.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Road Highlights
β€’ Clonakilty 5 Mile: Fiona Smyth put in a strong 41:35.
β€’ Raheny 5 Mile: Aaron Cullen tore up the record books β€” smashing the club’s 5-mile record and the long-standing all-time best. Mark Lindsay added a new M35 club record for good measure.
β€’ Naas ParkRun: Donna, Aoife, and Colm took a social trip and all came away with solid runs.
β€’ Dundalk Half: Graham used it as a Tokyo prep MP effort, while Eoin chalked up his fourth race of 2026 β€” now leading the β€œMost Prolific” standings before February even begins.

⛰️ IMRA Returns
β€’ Sugarloaf Winter: Ian Bromley opened his season with a superb 6th overall and 1st M45 on a tough, technical course. Strong runs too from Huw, Niall, Eoin, and Brendan.
β€’ Howth Winter: Huw and Eoin doubled up β€” big position jumps for both compared to Sugarloaf.

Full results are now live. Great work everyone.

Between January 16 and February 2, various races saw Glendalough AC members participate, achieving notable results in events like the Clonakilty and Raheny 5 milers, Naas ParkRun, and the Dundalk H…

November delivered a surge of Glendalough AC performances across road, trail and hill, pushing us toward a record year of racing. Mark Lindsay’s superb 3:12 in Chicago set the tone, matched by standout road results from Aaron Cullen’s new 4-mile club record and Angus Tyner’s relentless rewriting of the M55 book. On the trails, Becky Quinn, Graham Bushe and our IMRA category winners continued their domination, with Becky taking yet another win at the Western Way and Eoin Phelan edging toward his all-time season record. Run the Line brought its usual depth of club turnout, with big PBs and strong team finishes across both distances.

The club is on course for a record number of annual racers and November brought a good mix of hill, trail and road performances. After many months without reports, we pick up again with some later …

DUBLIN AND VENICE MARATHON

We had 29 runners doing a marathon on Sunday: a record 28 in Dublin with Ross Thompson preferring the sunnier clime in Venice.

Having had only one man under 3 (Torben in 2017), this year has brought four more and three of them were yesterday with Niall MacCague, Aaron Cullen and Louis Byrne running 2:52, 2:55 and 2:58 respectively to also set new records for overall/m35 (Niall), Male Senior (Aaron) and M40 (Louis) with Angus Tyner lowering the men's M55 time to 3:06 and Donna Quinn the F45 record to 3:18.

Many PBs and a few comebacks. Full report below.

The Dublin Marathon saw a strong participation from Glendalough AC, with 26 runners this year following last year’s record of 27. Since 2017, 88 members have completed the event. Several club…
