Second-hand September: The grown-up guide to buying pre-loved if you’re not Gen Z or a size 8

"Happy children learn." For Sally, a primary school teacher, these aren't just words.

She sees children arrive at school hungry and anxious. She sees children wondering when they'll have their next meal and struggling to concentrate because of worries at home.

She also sees their potential.

Your support can help children arrive at school with the essentials they need, ready to learn alongside their classmates with dignity.

Help give a child the chance to learn. Donate today at www.svp.ie/svp-education-appeal/?form=EducationAppeal26-IG

What can you donate to Vincent’s?

From clothes, shoes and accessories to books, homewares, soft furnishings and more, your good-quality pre-loved items can be given another chance to go further.

By donating thoughtfully, you’re helping to support Vincent’s shops and the work of SVP in communities across Ireland — while also helping to keep good-quality items in use for longer. ♻️

Before you donate, ask yourself if the item is salable.

During the 2025/2026 academic year, more than 1,800 students received assistance through the SVP Education and Training Bursary, with SVP investing more than €2.4 million. Demand continues to grow.

For a student facing financial hardship, an education bursary can help make it possible to stay in education and continue working towards their ambitions.

Your donation can help remove the financial barriers between a young person and their future.
