County Youth Forum 2026 took place last week in Mullingar Scouts - 1st/10th WH Scout den. A great turn out for the event lead to super break our sessions amoung the various sections. Well done to our Reps who faciliated and ran the event.

At the event the new youth reps were elected. Many congratulations to all who were successful. It was a great evening and the youth members who presented themselves in front of their peers did so exceptionally. We are very proud of all our young people .

Venture Chill 2026! 31 youth members from across 4 groups in county invaded Tullamore Scout den this weekend.

A completely youth led and ran event which allowed our county reps to really shine!

From Speed networking, to bowling, master chef to olympics there was non stop opportunities to build relationships across the county.

While on camp Jodie, DCC and CSA mentor presented Aoibheann with her Camping Level 6, well earned!

Our 3 venture reps really did an incredible job, scouters enjoyed alot of chill with tea! Thank you guys!

Thanks to Portlick Scout Campsite for supporting our ventures, this camp would not have happened without this.

The future of lakeland scout county is among all these very capable young people.

Thank you to all who made it a lovely funfilled weekend.

*What to expect at the Forum*

💬 A great opportunity to meet other young people from across Lakelands County, make new connections, share ideas, and help shape the future of Scouting in our County.

💬 Learn about upcoming County, Provincial and National activities, events and opportunities that your Scout Group can get involved in, as well as ways for young people to have a greater voice in Scouting.

💬 Election of County Youth Representatives.

*Interested in becoming a County Youth Representative?*

🗳️ Any eligible youth member may self-nominate if they would like to represent the voice of young people in Lakelands County and help shape future activities and initiatives.
🗳️ Elected candidates will be approved by the County Commissioner and supporting team.
📧 To receive a role description, details of the expected commitment, and information on how to nominate yourself, please email [email protected].
⏳ The *deadline to request role information is 18th September 2026.*
📝 The information pack will include a nomination form. Candidates will be asked to submit a short written biography and a profile photograph (preferably wearing Scout uniform) to support their nomination. Candidate biographies and photographs will be shared on the Lakelands County page in advance of the election so that youth members can learn more about those standing for election.
⏳ Completed nomination forms, biographies and photographs must be submitted by *24th September 2026.*

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 We encourage parents and guardians to review the role information with their child before deciding whether to stand for election.

📧 A parent or guardian's email address may be used to request the information pack if preferred.

✅ Youth members should obtain their parent/guardian's permission before submitting a nomination.

📣 Just a reminder: This event is open to all Scout, Venture Scout and Rover Scout youth members across Lakelands County, and we'd love to see as many young people there as possible.

🙌 You do not need to be standing for election or considering a County Youth Representative role to attend. Come along to meet other young people from around the County, hear about upcoming activities and opportunities, share your ideas, learn what's happening in Scouting, and have your voice heard.

Lakelands representatives have attended the first IST Camp for world scout jamboree 2027.

Thank you to Ger, Conor, Zoe and Aoibheann who have all stepped up and volunteered to ensure the WSJ27 is a huge success!

Lakelands took on Ventact South ! 3 groups represented - Mullingar Scouts - 1st/10th WH & Moore Scouts brought 20 youth and 6 Scouters, while 3 scouters from 2nd Westmeath Scouts staffed.

A crazy weekend of fun! Looking forward to next year already.

We had a highly productive county planning and skills day today. Sections got together to discuss and plan some events for the coming scout year. Our calendar will shortly follow.
Then we had some games and our reps and leaders facilitated some skills bases consisting of emergencies, hillwalking, pioneering and back woods. It was a great day for the county

What an end to the busy summer - 2 groups attended Venture Scouts Venture Sword last weekend. Both Groups taking home Silver!! Well done to Mullingar Scouts - 1st/10th WH and Moore Scouts who put in serious efforts.

Thank you to the scouters who once again gave up their time to enable these young people. Jodie and John cooked up a storm all weekend, Jodie assessed bases and logbooks and Deirdre assessed Campcraft and cleanups.
