Take us back to music and cupcakes in the sun! Some of our photos from our second Annual Bake Sale on Sunday. To date we have raised over €5000 for aid organisations UNRWA and MSF Ireland | Doctors Without Borders.

We couldn’t pull it off without our volunteers! If you’d like to get involved in Blessington Welcomes, send a message to the page and we can add you to our WhatsApp group.

Our next event is announcing tomorrow - stay tuned!

Refugee Week Ireland 2026 runs from 15th–21st June and Blessington Library is marking the occasion with a display of books and films exploring themes of migration, culture, community and belonging.

On Saturday 20th June from 11.30am, they will be screening a selection of short films in the Community Room.

These films explore themes of culture, integration, migration and belonging, and offer an opportunity to hear and experience a range of perspectives and stories.

As a welcoming community space, the library is proud to support opportunities for people to learn about different cultures, share experiences and discover new perspectives.

All are welcome. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Huge Congratulations to Mehret Flynn on her awards at Scifest@College! Not only is Mehret our youngest, but most dedicated and hardworking, of our 40 Blessington Welcomes volunteers, she has a huge future ahead of her in STEM!

We’re SO proud of you, Mehret!

From

“Mehret attends Blessington Community College and last week she participated in Scifest@College in TUD Tallaght with her project ‘Bloom Buster: A Solar-Powered System to Detect and Break Down Algal Blooms in Blessington Lakes’.

Mehret received exceptional recognition from the judges and was awarded FOUR prizes as part of her win, including a first-place intermediate technology award, an Eirgird cleaner climate award, an Intel Technology award and a best project award.

Following this outstanding achievement, Mehret will represent Blessington Community College at the Scifest National Finals in November.

Blessington Community College held a celebration at the school on Monday morning to mark Mehret’s considerable achievement.”
