We'd like to to highlight and give thanks to some of our wonderful supporters who held fundraisers in recent months to help raise funds for The ASI and to help support those living with dementia.

Luke and Mairead Hurley of Blackwater Valley Vintage Group recently had a Vintage car run a few weeks ago that raised over €4000 for St Mary's Daycare Centre Mallow.

Paddy Ennis and Eamon Connaughton of Kilnamanagh Football Club climbed Croagh Patrick last month and raised €6815 for the Kilnamanagh, Kilkenny Social Club .

Eugene and Kathleen O'Brien and the rest of their family invited everyone to their house for lovely cup of tea and home baked Buns as they hosted their annual tea day, raising over €2200 euro for our Monaghan branch in the process.

A massive thank you once again for everyone who helped out and contributed to these fundraisers. Your kindness and support is massively appreciated.

We are looking forward to welcoming Taoiseach Micheál Martin to the 36th Alzheimer Europe Conference in Dublin later this month, where he will address delegates at the conference opening ceremony.

Taking place at the Convention Centre Dublin from 27-29 October 2026, the conference is expected to bring together more than 1,300 delegates from across Europe. It will be the first time Ireland has hosted the Alzheimer Europe Conference since 2005.

The event will bring together people living with dementia, family carers, researchers, health and social care professionals, policymakers and advocates from across Europe to share expertise and best practice.

The theme of this year's conference is 'Sláinte: Building momentum in dementia through policy, research and partnership'.

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland welcomes the additional €1.4 million in funding for our vital dementia supports and services announced in .

This investment represents a positive step forward and demonstrates a welcome commitment to enhancing services and supports for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

The new funding package supports a range of our important community-based dementia supports and services including:

* Day care services
* Dementia day care at home
* Young-onset dementia Activity Clubs
* Five additional Dementia Advisers
* Minimum of 24% of all new HSE home support hours being allocated to people with dementia in 2027

The ASI acknowledges the ongoing engagement of Minister for Older People, Kieran O'Donnell TD, whose leadership, focus on improving dementia supports and services, and commitment to supporting people living with dementia have been greatly valued. The ASI also recognises Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD for her continued engagement and support in Budget 2027.



The ASI looks forward to continuing its work with Government, the All-Party Oireachtas Group on Dementia, the Department of Health and the HSE to strengthen services, enhance community supports and deliver meaningful improvements in the lives of people living with dementia and their families across Ireland.

iSupport is a new online education and support programme for young people aged 11-17, who are supporting someone living with dementia.

The programme will take place online on Tuesday evenings, from 3rd November-15th December.

ASI Advocacy, Engagement and Participation Officers, Saoirse Kelly and Judy Williams and the Irish Dementia Working Group and Dementia Carers Campaign Network are among those representing The Alzheimer Society of Ireland at this year's Alzheimer Europe Conference in Dublin.

This discussion will highlight the innovative Rights Made Real programme, Ireland's first human rights training designed by and for people living with dementia, and how it is empowering individuals to understand and exercise their rights.

This session will also highlight creative collaborations that amplify carers' voices, challenge stigma, encourage public dialogue and demonstrate the transformative impact of advocacy grounded in lived experience.

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI), in partnership with Cork City Council and Age Friendly Ireland , is inviting people across Cork City to come together for the launch of Dementia Inclusive Cork City. 🩵

This is an ambitious, community-led initiative to make Cork a city where people living with dementia can live well, feel valued and participate fully in everyday life.

It was a pleasure to be part of a fantastic morning of music, chat and laughter at Kay’s Kitchen, Frascati Centre, Blackrock, at the dlr Festival of Inclusion 2026. 🎶

Reflecting this year’s theme, “Thriving Together - Faoi Bhláth le Chéile,” this activity club highlights how strong partnerships and inclusive spaces can help people living with early and young onset dementia stay connected and continue to thrive.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Frascati Centre Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Kay's Kitchen - Food You'll Love for supporting this wonderful initiative and helping to create a more inclusive community for all.🩵
