The Substance Use Issues and Community Work Course 26/27 [QQ1 Level 5 - evening course] is now open for application.
This 20 week, evening course is delivered in collaboration with the
Cork College of FET - Morrison's Island Campus Night College, is funded by HSE South West and supported by Cork City Partnership CLG.

Students who complete The Substance Use Issues & Community Work Course will receive a QQI Level 5 Component Certificate.
The Substance Use Issues & Community Work 2026 /27 Course is designed to promote good practice among those who work either in a paid or voluntary capacity with young people and communities who are affected by various issues.

Entry Requirements – Applicants Must:
Be 21 or over (Jan 2026).
Send the SUI & CW Course 26 – 27 application form to Jacqueline Daly, Cork City Partnership by Friday 28th August 2026.
Attend a pre-entry information session Tuesday 8th September 2026 (evening).
Attend a pre- arranged online interview on Tuesday 15th September 2026 (day).
Have Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and good computer skills. Applicants are also expected to be active participants in the community in either a voluntary or work capacity.

Despite the rain, some residents joined us today as part of our Empowering Community's event on Togher road, organised by Cork City Partnership and supported by Cork City Council

Blackpool Block Party Festival 2026 took place on Sunday 23rd August from 1 pm to 5 pm on Great William O’ Brien Street. The Family Carnival had an eclectic mix of Cajun, Bluegrass, Jazz and Irish Traditional music, a free communal lunch, with ingredients sourced from community gardens across the Northside of Cork City, a Ceile and an afternoon tea party with all the cakes, tarts and biscuit cakes baked by the residents of Blackpool for the whole community to enjoy. There were art installations, street-acro workshops, outdoor street games, repair cafes, smoothie bikes, craft stalls and free giveaways including clothes and books.
Best of all we had the best seasonal produce from the community gardens as well as free planters, pots, compost and seeds, so people could grow their own at home.
The Blackpool Block Party is produced by Cork Community Art Link and supported by SICAP- Cork City Partnership, Cork City Council, Slaintecare, HAZ, Blackpool Credit Union, Blackpool Community Centre, local City Councillors

The SAFER Cork City Steering Committee is pleased to invite you to a free screening of the documentary Unmasking Influence, taking place as part of Recovery Month 2026. This event is open to members of the public, community groups, and professionals working across a range of sectors. It forms part of a wider programme of events being delivered across Cork and Kerry to mark .

Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion and Q&A session featuring: Eibhlín Collins (ANP), Dr. Rebekah Brennan and Dr. Sharon Lambert. Attendees will also have an opportunity to browse a range of information stands.

The Unmasking Influence documentary explores how commercial actors can influence public policy and public health. It highlights the impact of commercial determinants on major public health challenges and examines the need to identify, understand and address harmful corporate influences.

Through the experiences and insights of leading researchers and advocates, Unmasking Influence aims to raise awareness of corporate harm and contribute to discussions on protecting and improving public health.
