The Substance Use Issues and Community Work Course 26/27 [QQ1 Level 5 - evening course] is now open for application.

This 20 week, evening course is delivered in collaboration with the Cork College of FET - Morrison's Island Campus Night College
is funded by the HSE South West and supported by Cork City Partnership CLG. Students who complete The Substance Use Issues & Community Work Course will receive a QQI Level 5 Component Certificate.

The Substance Use Issues & Community Work 2026 /27 Course is designed to promote good practice among those who work either in a paid or voluntary capacity with young people and communities who are affected by various issues.
Entry Requirements – Applicants Must:
Be 21 or over (Jan 2026). Send the SUI & CW Course 26 – 27 application form to Jacqueline Daly, Cork City Partnership by Friday 28th August 2026. Attend a pre-entry information session Tuesday 8th September 2026 (evening). Attend a pre- arranged online interview on Tuesday 15th September 2026 (day). Have Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and good computer skills. Applicants are also expected to be active participants in the community in either a voluntary or work capacity.

Cork City Partnership was delighted to be part of the organising committee for the Ballyphehane Community and Voluntary Awards 2026 last Saturday evening at Ballyphehane Community Centre. The event was opened by The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Fergal Dennehy and MC'd by the amazing Shane Casey. Congratulations to the 35 group who were acknowledged for their amazing volunteers, commitment and contribution to the Ballyphehane Community. Special recognition awards were presented to Pat Buckley, Maurice Dineen, Mary O'Brien, Konrad Im and to the family of the late John Kelleher. Thanks to all who sponsored this fabulous event. Organising Committee members included: Ballyphehane Togher CDP, Ballyphehane Tidy Towns, Tory Top Library, Cork City Council, Cork City Partnership and Ballyphehane Community Centre.

Great to be part of the first steps towards making Cork Ireland’s first Dementia Inclusive City in City Hall. The collaborative workshops generated ideas for practical action and meaningful change. The presentations from the Alzheimer's Association offered insight and consideration for the challenges faced by people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Great turnout at The Togher Wellness Event at the L'Arche Community, which was organised by The Togher Learning Neighbourhood. The event was opened by The Togher Music for Wellbeing Group, which is supported by Cork City Partnership. Thanks to all the excellent speakers and the information stands hosted by Alone, Shine A Light and CCP.
