Light Up the Lough 2026

Following the success of last year, Light Up the Lough is back this October 10th.

Join Shine A Light Su***de & Mental Health Awareness at 7pm on Saturday October 10th as they once again to 'Light Up The Lough' for World Mental Health Day.

Light a candle in remembrance, for a loved one or for yourself.

There’ll be music, special guests and a chance to come together and show support.

Candles will be provided.

Our Aromatherapy class in Bridevalley Community house was full of excitement, thanks to Molly Aroma Bliss Handmade Aromatherapy Skincare and to all the participants. On the last session we made natural balms and blends.

Cork City Partnership’s Social Inclusion Team were delighted to be part of the Cork City Summit of Mayors Climate and Health.
As part of the Summit, delegates visited eight separate sites across local communities, including Douglas Street & Douglas, Mayfield & The Glen, Mahon, Togher & Ballyphehane, Knocknaheeny, Ballincollig and Blackpool.
These visits provided an opportunity to meet local communities, see initiatives in action and hear firsthand about the important work taking place at neighbourhood level.
It was fantastic to showcase local community-led initiatives. Huge congratulations to Cork Healthy Cities , Cork City Council and all the partners involved in this great event.

Day two of the Local Development Network Companies Conference!
Today, we’ll be listening to “Building Trust, Belonging and Democratic Participation from the Ground Up” — hearing refreshing stories, practical insights and best-practice examples from communities making a real difference.
Looking forward to another day of learning, sharing experiences and exploring how strong local connections can help build trust, belonging and participation from the ground up.
Well done to our Community Connection Worker, Maebh O’Callaghan, who shared her experiences of delivering workshops on misinformation and disinformation in Cork city.
Maebh highlighted the important role that community-based education and open dialogue can play in helping people recognise misinformation, build resilience and strengthen social cohesion.
A great opportunity to share learning from our work and contribute to an important conversation about building more informed, connected and resilient communities.

We are delighted to be represented at the National Conference of the Local Development Companies Network (LDCN) in Cork city today and tomorrow.

The theme of the conference is "Bridging Policy, People and Place."
Ireland is experiencing profound change. Communities are facing challenges linked to inequality, climate transition, economic change, demographic shifts and social cohesion. Local Development Companies are uniquely positioned to connect national policy with local solutions, ensuring no community is left behind.

Cork City Partnership is one of 49 Local Development Companies working in local communities all across Ireland.

Minister Buttimer and Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr. Peter Horgan opened the conference. Our CEO Brenda Cahill and our Community Link Worker, Maebh O'Callaghan, were on the organising committee for this conference. Over 250 delegates from around the country are in attendance. From 28th September to 2nd October, Local Development Week brings communities across Ireland together to celebrate the people, projects and partnerships that create positive and lasting change at a local level.
This Friday, CCP SICAP are hosting a Coffee Morning at the Cork City Partnership Knocknaheeny Community Building, Foyle Avenue, from 10.30am–12.30pm.
