Walk to📍Rosscarbery Pier, Co. Cork

Lovely on this overcast day, did we get caught in a shower? Of course we did but it was just at the end! It's even nicer on a clearer day and when the tide is in.

We started opposite the Celtic Ross Hotel, there isn't a car park here or anything for this walk, just parking on the side of the road at the start. Just on the main road is the bus stop for West Cork Connect so this one is very accessible by public transport. It could be made longer by starting in the village.

It's approx. 5 km long out and back, you can make it shorter by not going all the way to the pier. There are a couple of benches along the way.

It's all on public road, buggy friendly and dogs on leash. A couple of small inclines near the pier, otherwise relatively flat!

As always:
Leave no trace and take all rubbish away with you.
Respect the landscape, its animals and people!

The perfect morning for small legs - a visit to Drombeg Stone Circle and then a short drive away to these two strands.

These two strands are in the village of 📍Glandore, Co. Cork. There is a sign along the main road, near Caseys pub. This scenic little village can be bustling during the summer months so I tend to avoid it then as the road is narrow and parking is limited. I'm not trying to warn you off, just being honest!

The strands are small and there are steep steps down to them. I need to practice trying to record and skimming stones at the same time, my effort was pitiful!

Our walk along📍Foreshore Walk, Schull.

We really enjoyed this coastal stroll in beautiful weather today.

We started at the carpark beside the playground, headed towards the pier and followed the path out to the Dog Hole and then turned back which in total was just less than 1km. There were loads of benches along the start and we passed the public toilets by the pier. There are steps down to some strands so of course we had to explore those too!

We enjoyed some time at the playground and a little picnic afterwards. If you are looking for something longer in the area, this walk is a section of the Colla Loop Walk (8.8km) from the Fastnet Trails series of walks.

The path is narrow in places, has a few steps going up off the pier and a gate along the way (I dont think a buggy would fit). Dogs are allowed on leads.

As always:
Leave no trace and take all rubbish away with you.
Respect the landscape, its animals and people!

Hike 📍Seefin Loop, Sheep's Head Peninsula, Co. Cork. This loop is part of the Sheep's Head Way. This is just my third hike here, I've done the Lighthouse Loop and Mealagh Valley Woods Loop which I really enjoyed.

This is a beautiful 12.2 km loop walk, it's described as strenuous. It took me just over 4 hours including a lunch stop and a few water breaks. Dogs are not allowed on these trails. This trail is really well marked and signposted.

I started at the trailhead in Ahakista where there was a little parking, it could also start at Kilcrohane.

And yes, I'm not good with cows!!

Leave no trace and take all rubbish away with you.
Respect the landscape, its animals and people!

Walk📍Ballydehob Nature Trail with us. This is a lovely short 1 km loop that starts from the car park beside the playground. It took us about 25 mins as both of my kids walked it themselves.

We really enjoyed this walk and trying to spot different flora and fauna from the information signs, as well as the novelty of crossing the water.

This overlaps with part of the so dogs are welcome on leads. There are two sections of steps (could bring a buggy and just lift over these parts) and part of the trail is on a narrow road. There is easy access to water and steep drops in places so do take care.

We really enjoyed the playground after and there are plenty of benches for a picnic, a little too windy for us today though!

View at the top of📍Seefin, Sheep's Head Peninsula, Co. Cork. The highest point on the peninsula.

Since doing the Lighthouse Loop last year I was looking forward to getting back to this peninsula again. I hiked the Seffin Loop which is part of the Sheep's Head way. It's 12.5km and described as strenuous and really well marked.

Was it worth it? Yes! The views today were just beautiful 💙

Will share a full reel soon with more details.
