Bantry Area Community Employment

Bantry Area Community Employment Providing a proactive approach to individual training and development through Community Employment.

Who We Are

West Cork Training & Development Scheme (WCTD) was formed in 2000 with the objective of providing a flexible and proactive approach to individual training and development through Community Employment (CE). Why We Are

The aim of CE is to enhance the employability and mobility of disadvantaged and unemployed persons by providing work experience and training opportunities for them within

their communities. In addition, it helps long-term unemployed people to re-enter the active workforce by breaking their experience of unemployment through a return to work routine. Our Projects

CE projects are typically sponsored by groups wishing to benefit the local community, namely voluntary and community organisations and, to a lesser extent, public bodies involved in not-for-profit activities. Such projects provide a valuable service to local communities while at the same time providing training and educational opportunities to jobseekers. Our Participants

Our participants are 21 or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for one year or more.

"let’s break the bias and celebrate the value midlife workers bring" 🤩🌈🎉

Research suggests people over 50 face significant hurdles finding work; they take longer to secure roles, are more likely to experience age discrimination and negative stereotypes, compared to younger workers.

But here’s the thing: experience is a powerful advantage. Skills, perspective, resilience — these are qualities that workplaces need now more than ever.

So, let’s break the bias and celebrate the value midlife workers bring.
