There’s something special about life in the countryside, and October’s photograph captures it beautifully!

Titled “Playtime”, this wonderful photograph by Sinéad Larkin captures two young horses in a playful moment, bathed in the golden glow of the evening sunshine. It’s a beautiful reminder of the freedom, character and simple pleasures that make our rural landscape here in Lusmagh so special. A huge thank you to Sinéad for sharing her work with the Lusmagh Calendar and helping us showcase the beauty of our local area.

📅 LUSMAGH CALENDAR 2027 – MONTHLY SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Lusmagh Development Association is now preparing our 2027 Lusmagh Calendar and we’re inviting local businesses who would like to sponsor a month.
Each month will feature a beautiful photograph celebrating Lusmagh and the surrounding community, with the sponsoring business proudly represented on that month’s page.
It’s a great opportunity to support a local community project while giving your business visibility throughout the year.

A little late with our Calendar post this month! 😅🍂

We usually share our Lusmagh Calendar photo on the 1st, but somehow September managed to get well underway before we got around to it! Apologies for the delay, better late than never. 😊

📅 September’s Lusmagh Calendar photo was taken by Deirdre Woods, capturing another lovely glimpse of our parish.

🎉 PLANNING PERMISSION GRANTED! 🎉
We are absolutely delighted to share some very exciting news for Lusmagh!
Lusmagh Development Association has officially been granted planning permission by Offaly County Council for our proposed playground and walking track at Lusmagh Park. 🌳🚶‍♀️🛝

This is a huge milestone for our community and brings us one step closer to creating a space where children can play, families can spend time together, and people of all ages can enjoy getting outdoors and keeping active.

From the very beginning, this project has been led by our community and driven by a shared vision for the future of Lusmagh. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported the project, whether through fundraising, volunteering, attending events, sharing ideas or simply getting behind what we are trying to achieve.

There is still work to be done, but today we are taking a moment to celebrate this important step forward. ❤️

💪 TUG OF WAR: WHERE THINGS GOT SERIOUS… VERY SERIOUS! 😂
One of the highlights of the Lusmagh Fun Day had to be the Tug of War! 💪
We started off with the kids battling it out, with plenty of pulling and shouting encouragement!
But then came the Adult Tug of War… and suddenly the Fun Day became a highly competitive sporting event.

Friendships were tested, Reputations were on the line.
There was intense competition, fierce determination and, most importantly, very serious consideration about whether one side had the advantage of being on a hill! 🤣
We’re still not sure if it was the hill, superior technique or sheer stubbornness that decided the outcome… but we’re sure there’ll be a rematch next year! 😂💪

A huge well done to everyone who took part and especially to those who might be still feeling it today! 😂💪
