This book launch might be of interest to all those who fought hard to save the Baltinglass Hillfort Complex from industrial destruction!
Wicklow County Council is excited to announce the launch of a new publication that highlights the importance of the archaeological landscape in the Baltinglass area.
Located in west Wicklow, Baltinglass boasts the largest concentration of prehistoric hillforts in Ireland. This exceptional landscape has been the subject of research in recent years, conducted by University College Cork and supported by Wicklow County Council, the Baltinglass Municipal District, and the Community Monuments Fund from the National Monuments Service under the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The new publication documents recent discoveries and explores the broader context of the Baltinglass sites in relation to hillfort landscapes both in Ireland and abroad. "Baltinglass and the Prehistoric Hillforts of Ireland," authored by James O'Driscoll, Alan Hawkes, and William O'Brien, and published by Wordwell, will be officially launched by Cathaoirleach Cllr. Paul O'Brien on Tuesday, 10th December at 7pm in Germaine’s of Baltinglass. Refreshments will be served, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Books will be available for purchase on the night or can be ordered online from the publishers at www.wordwellbooks.com
