Due to the inclement weather promised tomorrow, ALL events that were due to take place in Market Square have now been moved indoors to the Town Band Hall, Mullingar.

Westmeath CCÉ is delighted to invite you to celebrate 75 years of the formation of Comhaltas with a fantastic weekend of music, song, dance and community in Mullingar, from 28th–30th August 2026.

🎻 A spectacular opening concert featuring the Ox Mountain Quartet alongside some of Westmeath's finest senior musicians, singers and dancers.*

🎭 A specially commissioned play, Where It All Began.

🎵 Youth performances, céilís, pub sessions and concerts throughout the weekend.

⭐ A very special Saturday night concert with the legendary Kilfenora Céilí Band in St. Paul's Church – a rare opportunity to hear one of Ireland's most celebrated traditional music ensembles in concert.*

🎺 Marching bands, historical lectures, a celebratory Mass and plaque unveiling to mark this important milestone.

Whether you've been part of Comhaltas for decades or are discovering traditional Irish music for the first time, there's something for everyone.

🎶Registration Morning for Traditional Irish Music Lessons 🎶

Sunday the 30th of August in Ballymore Community Centre from 11am-1pm.
If you or your child is interested in learning an instrument with Ballymore Comhaltas come to the registration to sign up for a class.
Comhaltas Membership is due to be paid on the day:
Junior: €6
Senior (O18): €12
Family: €20

A deposit for the first term of lessons is also due to be paid on the morning to book a space in the class. Message us for more details/ queries you have on this.
We will also be taking expressions of interest for Set Dancing Classes for Primary School - Aged Children at the registration evening.

Now that the dust has settled on a memorable and exciting Fleadh, we turn our attention to the 75th Anniversary Celebrations of Comhaltas running from the 28th-30th August in Mullingar. Ballymore CCÉ have limited tickets available for sale for the Kilfenora Céilí Band concert taking place in St Paul’s church on Saturday 29th. Tickets are €25. Anyone who wishes to purchase tickets for this event and who has not been in contact with us yet could you please do so ASAP!! There is a great line up of events and gigs for the weekend so make sure it’s in the diaries🎶😁

Hon the Dell!!!!! Huge congratulations to our great friends from The Lissadell Céilí Band who have just won the All Ireland Senior Céilí Band competition. In particular a massive well done to our very own Chairman Daniel Boland who is one of the fiddle players in the band. What a great achievement. We couldn’t be prouder of them🎶🎶🍾

Comhghairdeas to The Lissadell Céilí Band from Sligeach who are the 2026 winners of the All-Ireland Senior Céilí Band Competition!

The newly crowned champions will perform live on the Gig Rig at Belfast City Hall at 12.20am.

Months of hard work, dedication and practice have brought you to this point. Whether it's your first Fleadh or you're a seasoned competitor, enjoy every moment, perform with confidence, and be proud of everything you've achieved.

Remember, it's not just about the results—it's about celebrating our wonderful tradition of Irish music, song, dance and culture, making new friends, and creating lasting memories.

A huge well done to everyone in Mullingar CCÉ & the wider Westmeath CCÉ on the organising of a hugely successful Fleadh Cheoil na hIarmhí 2026. It was great to see all the musicians young and old taking part in the event.

We had huge representation from our branch in terms of clerks, volunteers & competitors over the weekend. It was lovely to see some of our students participating in their first of many Fleadh's, along with some of our tutors also competing.
